Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You address both sides of the question: the first main paragraph argues that preschool can support learning and brain development, while the next raises concerns about pressure and restrictions. The example of a survey is relevant in principle, but its details are difficult to follow and it is not clearly connected to the claim. The disadvantages are less fully explained, and the response ends with “For instance,” without completing the example or giving a concluding summary. As a result, the discussion is partial and the ideas remain under-developed. To strengthen the response, explain specific benefits and drawbacks, support each with a clear example, and finish with a conclusion that sums up your discussion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is a basic overall structure: an opening, a paragraph on advantages, and a paragraph on disadvantages. Signposting such as “To commence with” and “Shifting towards the disadvantages” helps identify the two sides. However, progression within paragraphs is often difficult to follow, particularly in the survey example, where the groups, test, and findings are not clearly presented. Connectors such as “In other words” and “Therefore” sometimes repeat or introduce ideas without making their relationship clear. The final paragraph stops abruptly, so the response lacks a complete ending. Use clearer topic sentences, arrange each paragraph around one main point, and link examples directly to the point they support.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “adapt,” “overall growth,” “pressure,” and “restrictions.” These choices show some ability to discuss learning and child development, but the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts of the response harder to understand, such as “funtion,” “ristritions,” and “shoes more energy.” Some phrases are also unnatural, including “brain function is very powerful” and “fights of parents and emotional drama.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise terms such as “cognitive development,” “social skills,” and “academic pressure” would help you express the ideas clearly without relying on repeated references to the brain.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some longer sentences and use clauses to explain reasons, as in “because children adapt it quickly,” but complex structures are often faulty and sentence boundaries are not consistently controlled. For example, “children at the age of three or four their brain…” lacks a clear grammatical structure, while “Sending childrens to school…” is an incomplete opening sentence. There are also recurring problems with agreement, articles, plurals, and verb forms, as in “children needs,” “children learnes,” and “teacher tech.” These errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with correctly formed clauses, and use full stops to separate complete ideas.
