Student answer (Band 5.0)

In recent years, there has been growing debate about whether parents should send their children to preschool, while others believe that they should wait untill childrens get to a certain age. Here, i am going to talk about both merits and demerits of sending children to boarding school in their early years of age.

On one hand,i believe first three to six year are the most important years of a child to build a strong foundation for their future. for example, a child must get into sports in their early years so they can get better in it . As a result, they will be naturally good at it and it paves the way for better future and elite athlete .

on the contemprory, there is alot of study saying that preschools can be better option if start in young age. for instance, childs getting into preschools make them more disciplined that shapes them into a good human being overall .they learn to be more social in kindergarten because of having a group of preschoolers with them.

In conclusion, althogh having preschool in young age remains essential for most of the children but , i believe practical skills in early age make a huge difference in their career development and can be very good in shaping them but ultimate choice depends on persn

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response touches on both sides of the question, mentioning early skill development and possible benefits such as discipline and socialisation. However, it only partially addresses the task: the sports example is not clearly connected to preschool, and the discussion does not explain disadvantages of starting preschool young. The conclusion also shifts towards practical skills and career development rather than giving a clear, balanced judgement about preschool. The ideas are brief and largely asserted rather than supported with relevant examples. The response is 28 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to develop the discussion. To improve, explain at least one specific advantage and one disadvantage, support each with a relevant example, and state your position clearly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organisation: an introduction is followed by two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and phrases such as “On one hand” and “In conclusion” signal stages of the response. However, the overall progression is not clear because the first body paragraph discusses sports and future careers, while the next presents preschool benefits without establishing a clear contrast or explaining the relationship between them. The second paragraph’s opening, “on the contemprory,” does not function clearly as a linking phrase. Some sentences also run together or are separated inconsistently, making connections harder to follow. Organise the body around the task’s two sides—advantages and disadvantages—and use accurate, purposeful transitions between the points.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some relevant vocabulary, including “foundation,” “disciplined,” and “social,” and the reader can generally identify the intended topic. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making meaning unclear. For example, “boarding school” is not the same as preschool, and “on the contemprory” does not express a clear contrast. There are also noticeable spelling and form errors, including “untill,” “childs,” and “persn.” These issues fit a limited but minimally adequate vocabulary range. Build a more precise set of terms for early education and child development, and check spelling and collocations carefully before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts a few longer structures, such as “so they can get better in it” and “because of having a group of preschoolers with them,” but most sentences rely on simple patterns, and complex attempts are often faulty. Errors in agreement and sentence construction appear in phrases such as “first three to six year are” and “a child … so they can,” while missing or incorrect articles and punctuation also affect readability. Capitalisation is inconsistent, as in “i” and the lowercase paragraph openings. Although the main message is usually recoverable, these frequent errors can make the reader pause. Practise accurate sentence patterns for comparisons and cause-and-effect, then proofread for agreement, articles, punctuation, and capital letters.
