Student answer (Band 7.0)
Nowadays, some parents prefer to send their children to early childhood education centers, whereas others wait for their children to reach a certain age before sending them to an elementary school. In this essay both advantages and disadvantages of sending children to a pre-primary school will be discussed followed by suitable examples.
On the one hand, starting schooling at an early age helps children to learn social skills such as sharing, learn to communicate, and taking turns. It is also makes a child more independent by teaching how to eat, dress, and take care of belongings without constant parental help. Moreover, this is beneficial for working parents because pre-primary schools provide healthy and safe environment to children, which allow parents to send their younger ones to the school. For example, it is difficult for single mothers who works full time to take care of their children by themselves in such situations these schools help parents to keep working by providing safe atmosphere to their children.
On the other hand, one of the biggest disadvantages of these schools is they are expensive, which makes it difficult for middle class families to send their children to such schools. Secondly, some children may feel frightened, insecure, and emotional when separated from parents. Children might get less time to spend with siblings and parents. Lastly, in a group setting the chances to getting sick increases. For example, children may not follow proper hygiene as a result if one child is not well others might catch the infection as well because they play together with same toys.
To conclude, early childhood education centers are the place where children get exposure about social skills, make a child less dependent on parents, and beneficial for working parents. However, some children may get nervous or sad when they do not see their parents. In brief, parents should understand emotional maturity, needs of their children rather than sending every children to preschool at a same age.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
The essay addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both advantages and disadvantages of preschool education. The position is clear throughout, and the ideas are relevant. The advantages (social skills, independence, support for working parents) and disadvantages (cost, emotional separation, health risks) are well-identified. However, some points could be further developed with more specific examples or deeper analysis to reach a higher band. For instance, the example regarding single mothers is relevant but could be expanded to show the long-term impact on the child's development. Overall, the response is well-focused and meets the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', 'Moreover', and 'To conclude' are used effectively to link ideas. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the advantages from the disadvantages. While the flow is generally smooth, some transitions could be more sophisticated to improve the overall cohesion, but the current structure is clear and functional throughout the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task and allows for clear communication. The student uses topic-specific terms such as 'early childhood education centers', 'social skills', 'emotional maturity', and 'group setting'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'exposure about social skills' (should be 'exposure to') and 'the chances to getting sick' (should be 'the chances of getting sick'). While the range is sufficient, it lacks the more sophisticated or idiomatic expressions that would characterize a higher band score. However, the vocabulary used is precise enough to convey the intended meaning without difficulty.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The student demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'It is also makes a child' (should be 'It also makes'), 'single mothers who works' (should be 'work'), and 'sending every children' (should be 'every child'). Additionally, there are minor punctuation and article usage issues. Despite these errors, the meaning is never obscured, and the reader can follow the argument without effort. To improve, the student should focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and prepositions to increase the frequency of error-free sentences.
