Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both advantages and disadvantages of preschool. However, the task requirement of 250 words was not met (247 words), which necessitates a penalty. The ideas are relevant, but the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding parents being 'bread earners' is a bit tangential to the core debate of preschool benefits versus home care. The position is clear throughout, but the supporting examples could be more detailed to fully explore the implications of early childhood education. To improve, ensure you expand on your points with more depth and strictly adhere to the minimum word count.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'First of all', 'In addition to it', and 'Moreover', though some are used mechanically or with grammatical errors (e.g., 'In addition to it, In this way'). The progression of ideas is generally logical, but the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the transition between the disadvantages of parents working and the impact on children. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words will help the flow of the essay.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks range and precision. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'Some people of the society asserts' (should be 'assert') and 'bread earner' (should be 'breadwinners'). The use of 'disciplain' is a spelling error, and 'grow of children' should be 'growth'. While the meaning is generally clear, the limited range of vocabulary and frequent errors in word formation prevent a higher score. Focusing on learning collocations and checking spelling will significantly improve your lexical score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('Some people... asserts'), missing articles ('when child alone'), and incorrect verb forms ('send children to school' instead of 'sending'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of gerunds after prepositions.
