Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both the advantages and disadvantages of preschool education. The position is clear throughout the essay. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding 'academic burden' is mentioned but lacks specific, well-developed examples to fully support the claim. The points are relevant, but the explanation remains a bit superficial. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more detailed reasoning and concrete examples, ensuring that the connection between the preschool environment and the stated outcomes is more logically articulated.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices like 'First and foremost', 'However', and 'Moreover' to link ideas. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'To simplify' or 'In other words' followed by sentence fragments. The referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a strong, unified topic sentence would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'guardians', 'co-operation', and 'academic'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'admit three or four years kids' (should be 'three- or four-year-old children') and 'burden of academic' (should be 'academic burden'). Some phrasing is repetitive, and the vocabulary lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. Focusing on learning collocations and using more precise academic terminology will help improve your score in this area.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, including issues with article usage ('the' is often missing), pluralization ('three or four years kids'), and sentence fragments ('In other words. classwork and homework...'). There are also errors in verb forms and prepositions, such as 'for complete their school work' instead of 'to complete'. While these errors do not prevent communication, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall accuracy of the text.
