Student answer (Band 6.5)

Some parents send their children to preschool at very early age. While others wait until they become enough mature for primary school. This essay will discuss its advantages and disadvantages.

One major advantage of sending children to school at early age is that they adopt things easily. This is because, at very early age children are look like clay and their minds are fresh to grab the things easily. For example, if parents wants to send their kids to music field, initial years are most important for them to learn deep concepts. In the music line there are thousands of concepts which are important to learn as early as. Consequently, children become more knowledgeable at very early age.

However, this development also has certain drawbacks. One significant disadvantage is that it create more pressure. The age of 3-4 years is developing phase for children, so parents need to spend more time with them instead of sending them at school. For instance, at this age parents come to know about the strengths and weaknesses of their kids. If they send them to school then it will putt burden on them at very early age. As a result, in initial period of their life they choose fields according to their friends in which they are not interested. Which will affect their future dreams.

In conclusion, while this development has certain disadvantages such as more pressure and peer fluence, I believe its advantages such as easy adoption and time saving are more significant.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The essay addresses both the advantages and disadvantages of preschool as required by the prompt. The position is clear throughout, and the main ideas are relevant. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding 'music' as an example of early learning is quite specific and does not fully capture the broader educational benefits of preschool. Similarly, the disadvantage regarding 'pressure' is mentioned but could be supported with more nuanced reasoning. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully explored with more depth and clearer logical links to the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. There is a logical progression from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'Consequently', 'For instance', 'As a result'). Additionally, some sentences are slightly disjointed, such as the opening sentences which are fragmented. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that sentences flow more naturally into one another would significantly enhance the coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to communicate their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at using topic-specific vocabulary, such as 'developing phase' and 'knowledgeable'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of awkward phrasing or word choice, such as 'adopt things easily' (should be 'adapt' or 'absorb') and 'music line' (should be 'field of music'). To improve, the student should focus on using more precise collocations and a wider range of academic vocabulary to express complex ideas more fluently.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include missing articles ('at early age'), subject-verb agreement issues ('parents wants'), and incorrect verb forms ('are look like'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with sentence fragments like 'Which will affect their future dreams.' To achieve a higher score, the student needs to focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and increasing the variety of complex structures while ensuring they are used correctly.
