Student answer (Band 6.5)

Education plays a vital role in the contemporary era.It is often argued that children should be sent to preschool before four years, whereas many believe that they must not be sent before that age.In this essay, I will explore the benefits and drawbacks of the same.

There are so many pros for starting schooling before actual school. To start with, it helps to start the process of learning earlier. For example, in kindergarten, they start to teach basic topics of many subjects like Mathematics, English and Science. When they go to the school, this knowledge will help them. Moreover, the pupils will know how to socialize with outsiders because they are interacting with the people in that organization. Also, this help them to find friends and do lot of activities independently. Therefore, they will be capable of doing most of the things without the support.

On the other hand, being away from home in the young age have some cons.Firstly, it will affect their mental health which will lead to depression. For instance, the offspring who is so attached to their parents will be facing a great dilemma which eventually lead to negative result than the positive.Secondly, the little ones does not get to spend quality time with their family. As a result, they may not have affection with the parents or grandparents in the future. Thus, when they grew up, they will not be set up a good example in the society.

To conclude, eventhough there are good and bad side of making the children to sent to the preschool at early age but advantages outweigh the disdvantage side.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both the advantages and disadvantages of preschool education. The position is clear throughout, and the main ideas are relevant. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the claim that early schooling leads to depression is a significant assertion that lacks sufficient evidence or nuanced explanation to be fully convincing. While the task is addressed, the supporting arguments could be more thoroughly explored to reach a higher band. The conclusion is brief but effectively summarizes the writer's stance.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for pros and cons, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'To start with', 'Moreover', 'On the other hand', and 'Firstly' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing (e.g., 'this help them' should be 'this helps them'). Paragraphing is used appropriately, and there is a clear progression of ideas throughout the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'contemporary era' and 'dilemma', though some word choices are slightly unnatural or imprecise, such as 'offspring' (which is usually used in biological contexts rather than referring to a child in a social setting) and 'affection with' (should be 'affection for'). Spelling is generally accurate, and the errors do not impede communication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the little ones does not', 'this help them') and article usage. Punctuation is generally functional, though there are missing spaces after periods in the opening paragraph. Despite these errors, the writer demonstrates enough control to ensure the message is conveyed without significant difficulty for the reader.
