Student answer (Band 7.0)
In the modern society, a few parents send their child to preschool at very young age. However, other parents wait until their children are attained the age to be send to primary school. There are many merits and demerits of sending children to preschool at age of two or three year. This essay will examine the advantages, and disadvantages sending children to preschool along with examples in the subsequent paragraphs.
To commence with the advantages of preschools, the primary benefit of sending children to primary school is that preschools provide structured environment for learning that make the foundation for education. Moreover, interaction with peers, and teacher enhances the communication, and social skills of a child. To explain it, children who are exposed to early education have a strong emotional intelligence, and cognitive skills. For instance, preschools provide a structured curriculum that encourages cognitive development through activities such as promoting language, mathematics, and problem-solving skills.
On the other hand, although there are multifarious merits of preschool education, it comes with some drawbacks. The predominant disadvantage is that children feel pressure of education at very young age that leads to stress and anxiety. Moreover, it negatively impacts children mental health and physical growth because they have to remain in structured setting for long hours that limit the opportunities for outdoor activities like games, and sports, which are essential for their overall development.
In conclusion, although primary education has many advantages such as enhanced communication skills, and foster cognitive development, it poses many limitations related to academic pressure, and social disparities. I believe that should consider the needs of each child before making enrollment in the preschool.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both advantages and disadvantages of preschool. The position is clear, and the ideas are relevant. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For example, while you mention 'cognitive development' and 'academic pressure,' these points could be expanded with more specific real-world examples or deeper analysis to reach a higher band. The conclusion is slightly confusing as it refers to 'primary education' instead of 'preschool,' which slightly undermines the clarity of your final stance.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. You use cohesive devices such as 'To commence with,' 'Moreover,' and 'On the other hand' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as the confusion between preschool and primary school in the conclusion. The progression of ideas is generally smooth, but the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words beyond standard list-like transitions.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including terms like 'multifarious,' 'cognitive development,' and 'social disparities.' There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'children are attained the age' (should be 'have attained') and 'children mental health' (should be 'children's mental health'). While you attempt to use less common vocabulary, the precision is occasionally lacking. The range is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, but it does not yet reach the level of flexibility required for a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('a few parents send their child to preschool at very young age') and verb forms ('to be send'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary commas appearing in several places, such as 'interaction with peers, and teacher.' These errors are noticeable but do not significantly impede communication. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles.
