Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both the advantages and disadvantages of preschool education as required by the prompt. The ideas are relevant, covering social development, parental convenience, financial costs, and emotional well-being. However, the development of these points is somewhat limited and relies on general statements rather than specific examples or deeper analysis. For instance, the point about 'overall health' is mentioned but not explained in detail. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your arguments with more specific illustrations or logical consequences. The position is clear throughout, and the conclusion effectively summarizes the main points.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'First of all', 'Secondly', 'Thirdly', and 'On the other hand' to signal the progression of ideas. However, the use of these devices is somewhat mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences is slightly disjointed. Referencing is generally clear, though some phrasing, such as 'for parents whom both are working', is awkward and impacts the smooth flow of information.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You use common words like 'things', 'good', and 'many' repeatedly, which limits the sophistication of the response. There are also several word-choice errors, such as 'not agree with that' instead of 'disagree', 'streested' (spelling error), and 'burden on themselves'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they indicate a limited range of vocabulary. To improve, focus on using more precise academic collocations and synonyms to avoid repetition.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('parents who send... are think'), article usage ('at younger age'), and awkward phrasing ('might do not have time'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around commas. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors means that the grammatical control is not consistent enough for a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would be highly beneficial.
