Student answer (Band 7.0)

It is often argued, that parents should enroll their children to preschool at the age of three or four, while some parents wait until their children are mature enough for primary schooling prior to sending them to school. Although early admissions allow toddlers to be more disciplined and interactive, it might be sometimes stressful to learn without the parental presence.

To begin with, one of the prominent merits is that early age schooling permits children to learn and play with their fellow toddlers and make some playful interactions. Additionally, preschools are specifically designed to assist children gaining minor level of discipline to enhance the brain development more productively. For instance, in Japan it is mandatory for parents to get their children enrolled in preschools under four years. Therefore, for an influential progress of young mindset it is advantages to send them to preschools at a young age.

On another hand, it might be overwhelming for toddlers to learn in a completely different environment without their parents being around them. Primarily during that specific age children mostly feel safe around their parents and staying away even for a short duration can be stressful. To exemplify, in Canada on an average six out of ten children drop out of preschools as it becomes challenging to emotionally support them during classes. Hence, it may negative impact on young mindsets.

In conclusion, while preschools teaches toddlers discipline and enhances their communication skills, it may even lead to emotional distress, which may get difficult for children and teachers to manage.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses both the advantages and disadvantages of preschool education. The position is clear throughout, and the main ideas are relevant. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the example regarding Japan is brief and could be more effectively linked to the 'advantages' argument. Similarly, the example regarding Canada is a bit vague and lacks a clear explanation of how it directly relates to the broader point about emotional distress. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand on your supporting points with more detailed explanations or nuanced analysis rather than relying on brief, potentially unsupported claims.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. You use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Additionally', 'On another hand', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader through your argument. While the progression of ideas is generally clear, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. The referencing is mostly accurate, though the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and phrases to connect ideas more fluidly. Overall, the structure is sound and supports the development of your argument effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'influential progress', 'overwhelming', and 'emotional distress'. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'gain minor level of discipline' (should be 'gain a basic level of discipline') and 'it may negative impact' (should be 'it may have a negative impact'). To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring that your word forms are grammatically correct. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the sophistication and flexibility required for higher band scores.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you successfully use complex sentences, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. For example, 'It is often argued, that' (unnecessary comma), 'assist children gaining' (should be 'assist children in gaining'), and 'preschools teaches' (subject-verb agreement error). These errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement, preposition usage, and punctuation rules, particularly regarding the use of commas in complex sentences.
