Student answer (Band 5.5)

Although, many people believe that sending their children to preschool when they are three or four years old. However, other parents wait until their children become to a certain age for primary school before they get enrolled is acceptable. I think in reverse manner and disagree to the given statement. My inclination is justified in the following paragraphs.

Out of all the arguments, the strongest one to prove my view is when the children's reach to the age of three or four years they become more active and try learning new words easily. This is to say getting early admission to school help children to think out of the box and develop thoughts. A good example for this is it is a right time for children to grow physically and mentally. Besides this, it also true that it is the best time for kids to adapt and learn new things quickly.

The other reason to prove my point is they will get out of their comfort zone because many individuals feel shy and remain silent. In addition, the fact that children will learn how to talk and behave and making them ready for the next adventure in their life is also logical.

On the contrary, some people counterclaim the mentioned support. the foremost argument they do is after certain age kids become mature and can enroll to the school because they believe they are capable to understand the course material. Also, they can learn faster because kids often learn words from the parents.

Thus, to wrap up the discussion, it can be said that despite becoming mature and capable to understand the outline, my reasons that active learning as well as taking kids out of their comfort zone are logically accepted.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the advantages and disadvantages of preschool. However, the position is somewhat confusingly stated in the introduction: 'I think in reverse manner and disagree to the given statement.' It is unclear what the student is disagreeing with, as the prompt asks for a discussion of both sides. The arguments provided are relevant but lack depth; for example, the claim that children 'think out of the box' is asserted but not clearly explained or supported with specific, concrete examples. The conclusion is also slightly disjointed, as it does not clearly summarize the balanced view required for a 'discuss' task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For instance, the transition 'On the contrary, some people counterclaim the mentioned support' is awkward. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'the foremost argument they do is...', which lacks a clear antecedent. While there is an attempt at logical progression, the flow between sentences is frequently interrupted by grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, making the overall coherence feel strained at times.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. The student relies on basic phrasing, such as 'learn new things' and 'get out of their comfort zone'. There are also instances of awkward word choice, such as 'I think in reverse manner' and 'the foremost argument they do is'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of variety and the presence of collocation errors limit the score. To improve, the student should focus on using more academic collocations and precise terminology related to child development.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. The opening sentence is a fragment: 'Although, many people believe that sending their children to preschool when they are three or four years old.' There are also issues with subject-verb agreement and sentence structure, such as 'getting early admission to school help children' (should be 'helps') and 'they become to a certain age'. While the student attempts some complex structures, these are often marred by errors. A higher band would require a greater variety of error-free complex sentences and better control over basic punctuation and syntax.
