Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both the advantages and disadvantages of preschool education. The position is clear throughout, and the ideas are generally relevant. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive and relies on generalizations. For instance, the claim that 60 percent of individuals achieve success before 30 due to preschool is an unsupported statistic that lacks logical grounding. While the prompt is addressed, the arguments could be more nuanced and better supported with realistic examples rather than hyperbolic statements about stress and suicide, which feel disconnected from the context of early childhood education. The essay covers all parts of the task, but the depth of analysis is limited.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'Apart from this', and 'On the other side', which help guide the reader. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'To explicate' or 'To sum up'. Additionally, there are issues with referencing and flow; for example, the transition between the benefits and the drawbacks is abrupt. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs could be improved to ensure a smoother progression of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There is frequent repetition of basic words like 'success', 'life', and 'childrens'. Some word choices are inaccurate or inappropriate for an academic essay, such as 'juvenilles' (juveniles) and 'infants' (when referring to school-aged children). Spelling errors are also frequent, including 'futire', 'defenitely', 'successfull', and 'sucidies'. These errors occasionally distract the reader, though they do not fully impede communication. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more sophisticated vocabulary and ensuring correct spelling and collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'childrens can learn', 'infants faces stress'), incorrect pluralization, and missing articles. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around commas and periods. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevents the text from reaching a higher band. More attention to proofreading for subject-verb agreement and plural forms would significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
