Student answer (Band 5.5)
There is always a question for the parents about their children weather they should send their kids to preschool or they should wait for their infant to grow up and send them to school. I will discuss the merits and demerits of sending kids to preschools through this essay with valid reasons responsible for the arguments.
So for the parents it is a very good option to send their kids to preschool because the preschools give more time to their child because somehow parents are busy in doing their work and cannot give proper time to their kids which can lead a big mistake in their future, so if they send them to preschools they can take proper care of the children and them them properly about the good things or bad things and parents can also do their work properly.
On the other hand, their are also many demerits of sending children to preschool. One of them is that it can be also the wastage of money and time for the parents because in that time they can teach their children by their own, so that the child can know about the nature of their mother and father and also they can know about their children that in what things does their child have more interest in, for example does the child have more interest in playing or in studying, it can help them to decide in future about their children what he or she will be in the future or in studies.
To conclude, it has both advantages and disadvantages but according to me the demerits outweigh the merits of sending the children to preschool. Parents should teach their children by their own.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both the advantages and disadvantages of preschool, as required by the prompt. However, the development of ideas is limited. The arguments provided—such as parents being 'busy' or preschool being a 'wastage of money'—are somewhat simplistic and lack depth or specific examples from real-world knowledge. While a clear position is stated in the conclusion, the supporting points are under-developed, and the essay relies on generalizations. To improve, you should expand on the educational or social benefits of preschool and provide more nuanced counter-arguments regarding the parental role.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite mechanical and repetitive. Phrases like 'On the other hand' and 'To conclude' are used, but there is a lack of sophisticated linking words to connect ideas within paragraphs. Additionally, some sentences are run-on or lack logical flow, such as the second paragraph, which attempts to cover too many points in one long, rambling sentence. Improving the variety of transition signals and ensuring each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed idea would enhance the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but remains quite basic and repetitive. You frequently use simple terms like 'good', 'bad', 'things', and 'work'. There is little evidence of less common lexical items or collocations that would demonstrate a higher level of proficiency. For example, instead of 'give more time to their child', more precise academic phrasing would be 'facilitate early childhood development'. To reach a higher band, focus on using more specific vocabulary related to education and child development, and avoid repeating the same words throughout the text.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'there are also many demerits'), word choice errors (e.g., 'weather' instead of 'whether'), and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'them them properly'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several run-on sentences that lack necessary commas or conjunctions. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and refining sentence boundaries.
