Student answer (Band 6.0)
Few parents send their children to preschool at an early age of three or four years old. Other parents wait until their children are of an age for primary school before sending them to school. This essay will discuss its advantages and disadvantages.
Some parents who send their kids to preschool see it as the most important stage of their life, and this serves as a key advantage. Most kids have the ability to learn fast and adapt quickly at an early age, especially between two and four years old. this stage, children tend to learn some behaviors and some words that will help them with their early childhood growth. Some parents tend to see this ability as a great opportunity to kick-start their children's growth at such a tender age. For instance, some parents tend to enroll them in a preschool for early childhood inculcation and learning new things that will help the child as they grow.
Another advantage of this early enrollment of kids by their parents at an early age is in the aspect of the parents' absence from them. Some parents, due to their tight schedule of work, they have little or no time for their kids; in a bid to keep them in good and safer hands, they send their children to preschool early. This gives them the opportunity to work and carry out their daily activities.
One disadvantage of this, can be seen in the inability of such parents to create a bond among themselves at such an early age of three and four. Most families tend to create a family bond with their kids, especially during their early days, o as to inculcate the spirit of love, unity and oneness in them. Most parents who send their kids to preschool at such age have little or no time to bond with their kids at such an age, given the fact they tend to leave the children at the care of their teachers. For instance, parents creating time daily or on weekends to spend, especially with their kids, tends to create bonding and love among themselves.
In conclusion, the advantages of parents sending their children to preschool when they are three or four years old is the ability to inculcate early child morals and behavior, and the disadvantage is the absence of parents bonding with their children.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both advantages and disadvantages. The ideas are relevant, such as early cognitive development and the practical benefits for working parents. However, the development is somewhat repetitive. For instance, the second paragraph focuses on 'early growth' but lacks specific examples or depth beyond general statements. The disadvantage section is also slightly underdeveloped, focusing heavily on the concept of 'bonding' without exploring other potential drawbacks like cost or the child's readiness. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is supported by a more detailed explanation or a concrete, illustrative example.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Another advantage', 'For instance', and 'In conclusion', which help the reader follow the argument. However, there are instances where the flow is slightly mechanical or repetitive, particularly in the transition between sentences. The use of referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'the inability of such parents to create a bond among themselves', where the pronoun usage is slightly awkward. Overall, the progression of ideas is logical, but the paragraphing could be more sophisticated to improve the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'inculcation', 'tender age', and 'early childhood growth'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is a reliance on simpler phrasing. Some word choices are slightly unnatural, such as 'inculcate early child morals' or 'create a bond among themselves'. To improve, the student should focus on more precise collocations and a wider variety of academic vocabulary to express complex ideas more fluently.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('parents... tends to create') and punctuation errors (e.g., 'o as to' instead of 'so as to'). There are also some awkward sentence constructions, such as 'Some parents, due to their tight schedule of work, they have little or no time'. These errors are noticeable but do not significantly impede communication. To achieve a higher score, the student needs to demonstrate better control over complex sentence structures and proofread for basic grammatical slips.
