Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both advantages and disadvantages of early preschool. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding the disadvantages focuses on the child's need for care, but the explanation is slightly repetitive and lacks depth. The advantages section mentions discipline and creativity but does not fully explore how these are achieved. The position is clear, but the overall development of the argument is basic. To reach a higher band, you should provide more detailed examples and ensure that each point is fully explained rather than just stated.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Although', 'Moreover', and 'For instance'. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or misused, such as 'Despite of these disadvantages' (should be 'Despite these disadvantages'). Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the final sentence where the subject is missing. Improving the variety and accuracy of your linking words will help the flow of your writing feel more natural and sophisticated.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You use some basic phrases like 'qualitative thing' and 'do anything', which are imprecise. There are also some word-choice errors, such as 'fully train to care themself' instead of 'fully trained to care for themselves'. While you attempt to use some academic vocabulary, the control is inconsistent. To improve, focus on learning collocations and using more specific terminology related to education and child development to convey your ideas with greater clarity and impact.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'a remarkable changes' (should be 'a remarkable change'), 'its benefit are' (should be 'its benefits are'), and 'a little ones' (should be 'little ones'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. You should focus on subject-verb agreement, pluralization, and ensuring that your complex sentences are constructed accurately.
