Student answer (Band 6.5)

Children generally have a great capability of acquiring knowledge at a young age, as they have fewer responsibilities and goals. Some parents admit their children into preschool when they are three or four years old whereas, other parents think that children should start schooling when they are mature enough to understand an academic system. This essay will examine both advantages and disadvantages of sending children to preschool at early stage before reaching a conclusion.

Preschools have great techniques to push children's capacity of gaining knowledge. Hence, they attracts working parents to enroll their juveniles in these facilities. Moreover, these facilities provide a number of resources for children to learn basic things and adapt with other people. For example, these facilities schedule a proper curriculum to increase children's thinking and to improve their discipline by organizing friendly games. Moreover, due to the unavailability, full-time parents often send their infants to preschool, as not only it take care of them in their absence, but also help children to spend their leisure time effectively with new learnings.

On the other hand, this mindset also has some drawbacks, which can not be overlooked. Spending a majority time at day care means that they would be away from their parents at crucial age. This would allow them to develop feelings such as loneliness and emptiness. These feeling can impact negatively, as they require an emotional support during the day. Moreover, sometimes, these facilities do not take care of children promptly. For instance, kids generally do not provided with their ideal meals and their favorite toys, which creates sadness in them. As result, these facilities can not provide an accurate parental support and they often lack in their services.

To conclude, despite a few potential drawbacks, I believe that advantages of this development clearly outweigh its disadvantages because preschool help children to get ready for primary school and help them to gain a significant numbers of skills such as critical thinking, logic, and communication skills.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both the advantages and disadvantages of preschool education. You have a clear position, and the ideas are generally relevant. However, some points are under-developed. For instance, the argument regarding 'loneliness' and 'lack of prompt care' is a bit simplistic and lacks depth. To reach a higher band, ensure that your examples are more sophisticated and directly linked to the broader societal or developmental implications of early education. You have successfully covered all parts of the prompt, but the development of your arguments could be more nuanced.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'On the other hand', and 'For instance' to link your ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are instances where the flow could be smoother. For example, the transition between the benefits of curriculum and the needs of working parents in the second paragraph is a bit abrupt. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and the central topic of each paragraph is clear, which helps the reader follow your argument easily.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'acquiring knowledge', 'academic system', and 'crucial age'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'enroll their juveniles' (juveniles is usually used in a legal context) and 'not only it take care of them' (grammatical error affecting lexical flow). You attempt to use less common vocabulary, but some choices are slightly unnatural. To improve, focus on using collocations that sound more natural in an academic context, such as 'enrolling their children' or 'providing comprehensive care'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'they attracts' (subject-verb agreement), 'due to the unavailability, full-time parents' (unclear phrasing), and 'kids generally do not provided' (passive voice error). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but these persistent errors in basic grammar prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct construction of passive voice, as these are recurring issues throughout the text.
