Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is often argued that sending children to the preschool is good or not, as some people think children should get preschool education at their age of three to four years, while others think children should take their primary school education directly. This essay will discuss both the sides of preschool education before giving my opinion.
One the one side, preschool education is beneficial for children nowadays. For example, these days both the parents are working, so they cannot give enough time after their child to teach them every basic things. If children will go to preschool at young age they might get socialized with other children and with teachers. Moreover, children will be able to explore themselves and learn some brain storming activities which help them in their mental development. Other than that if both the parents are working personal, it is safer for child to be at preschool rather leave alone at home. All this things make parents to choose preschool for their child.
On the other hand, others think that child should be enrolled directly to the primary school for their educational development. As children are mature enough at the age of six to seven years they should be pressurized by schools and education. For an instance, children love only playing and do their favourite activities according to their mood, no one should forced them to do it when they do not want to do. Because, sometimes they may feel that they are compelled to perform it.
In conclusion, as sending children to preschool may help them in new learning as well as physical and mental development, they should not forced to go to preschools if they feel unenthusiastic.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both the advantages and disadvantages of preschool education. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the point about 'brain storming activities' is vague and lacks specific explanation. The conclusion introduces a new point about children being 'unenthusiastic' which was not fully explored in the body paragraphs. While the position is generally clear, the arguments could be more thoroughly supported with more concrete examples or deeper analysis to reach a higher band. The task is addressed, but the depth of discussion is inconsistent.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one side', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is slightly disrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'All this things make parents to choose'. Referencing is generally clear, but the logical progression within paragraphs could be smoother. The structure is sufficient to follow the argument, but it lacks the sophisticated, unobtrusive cohesion required for higher bands.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There is some repetition of basic terms like 'children' and 'education'. Phrases such as 'brain storming activities' and 'leave alone at home' are slightly unnatural or imprecise. While the meaning is generally clear, there is a lack of less common lexical items or idiomatic expressions that would demonstrate a wider range. Errors in word choice, such as 'pressurized by schools', do not impede communication but highlight a limited ability to use vocabulary flexibly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('All this things'), missing articles ('to the preschool'), and incorrect verb forms ('they should not forced'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the main points, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall fluency. A wider range of error-free complex structures is needed to move beyond a band 6.0. Punctuation is generally functional but could be more precise.
