Student answer (Band 4.5)
Social media is become a platform where the individuals are depended to maintain their connections. Although, this new technology brings world close to each other, I believe that there are numerous drawbacks to prefer every relation on online platforms.
It is mainly because social media gives a variety of platforms where people can create their accounts and communicate with anyone anywhere without a physical appearance. As the individuals are more practical and socialize these days, they prefer to make friends online and try to maintain their friendship on social media. For instance, a person who is living and working in abroad, he/she can connect and communicate with his/her family and friends by online.
In my perception, it is unfavourable to be dependent on these online applications to maintain the connections. As physical appearance is very crucial when people make genuine relationships with others, and it is loosed when the communication is left only on social media, which is the negative effect on their relationship. Consequently, these kinds of connections are not lasting longer. Furthermore, depending on social platforms are harmful for the physical and mental health as a person is isolated at home when these online applications are becoming a habit of that person in his/her regular routine.
In conclusion, although social platforms are giving more opportunities to the people to connect with each other and maintain their bonds, nevertheless always using these online apps to maintain the connections not only loose physical bonds but also loose the human attraction.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 2.0
The response is completely off-topic. The prompt explicitly asks for a discussion on the advantages and disadvantages of sending children to preschool at a young age. However, the essay discusses the impact of social media on human relationships. Because the response fails to address the task requirements entirely, it cannot be assessed against the standard criteria for task response. In an actual examination, this would result in a very low score for Task Achievement due to the failure to address the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, and there is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'Consequently', and 'In conclusion'. However, because the content is irrelevant to the prompt, the logical progression of ideas is disconnected from the task. The paragraphing is present, but the internal flow is hindered by the lack of relevance to the topic. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the transition between ideas feels mechanical rather than natural.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is generally simple and repetitive. There are several instances of awkward word choices and incorrect collocations, such as 'depended to maintain' instead of 'dependent on', 'loosed' instead of 'lost', and 'human attraction' used in an incorrect context. While the student attempts to use some academic-style vocabulary, the lack of precision and the persistent errors in word formation limit the range and effectiveness of the language used.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The grammar contains frequent errors that occasionally impede the reader's understanding. Examples include 'Social media is become' (incorrect verb tense), 'living and working in abroad' (incorrect preposition usage), and 'depending on social platforms are harmful' (subject-verb agreement error). The sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when attempting complexity. Punctuation is generally functional, but the frequency of grammatical slips is high, preventing the essay from reaching a higher band score.
