Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing advantages and disadvantages, but the development is insufficient. The essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum, which prevents a full exploration of the ideas. While you mention benefits like motor skills and social development, these points are not adequately supported with detailed examples or logical expansion. Furthermore, the conclusion is abrupt and fails to provide a balanced summary of the arguments presented. To improve, you must expand each body paragraph with specific examples and ensure the essay meets the required length to allow for a more comprehensive discussion of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow of ideas is often disjointed. While you use some cohesive devices like 'To beginning with' and 'In addition,' they are sometimes used incorrectly or mechanically. The transition between ideas is weak, and the abrupt ending of the second paragraph ('they lear') suggests a lack of careful planning and proofreading. Paragraphing is present, but the logical progression of arguments is hindered by the brevity of the content and the lack of clear linking between the advantages and disadvantages. Improving the use of transition words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms such as 'good,' 'positive things,' and 'negative points.' There are also several errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'three to four years children should send preschools' (should be 'should be sent to preschool') and 'grasp power' (a non-standard collocation). To achieve a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary, including less common lexical items related to child development and education, and ensure that words are used in their correct context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with sentence structure, such as 'three to four years children should send preschools,' and missing articles or incorrect prepositions throughout. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with spaces placed incorrectly before commas and periods. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often inaccurate. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles. Proofreading for common errors like these will significantly improve the clarity and accuracy of your writing.
