Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, many parents send their offspring to preschool at a very young age, while some wait until their children are old enough to understand the basics of primary school instead of sending them to school directly.
One of the main advantage of sending children to preschool at an early age is that they get familiar with the environment and learn how to socialize. They meet with other children from the same age groups that helps them to build confidence at a very young age. Teachers also encourage children to participate in the team-building activities which promotes unity among them. They also learn sharing which is very important social skills that helps them to feel a part of the society after coming to a certian age.
Despite of these advantages, many people think children develop stress and anxiety from a very early age if they feel left out by their parents or other family members, which is a negative development for their overall growth and well being. Parents believe the more the child stays home before starting the school the more they value relationships. When children are surrounded by their near and dear ones at an early age, they sense a feeling of security which helps develop peace of mind.
In conclusion, sending children to school helps them to gain skills like how to be a team or how sharing is helps them to build a strong relationships and nurture their overall growth from a very young age, staying home for a certain age nourishes their perspective towards surrounded by family and friends and how important family is. They also learn how to fight with their anxiety and stress.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both the advantages and disadvantages of preschool as requested. The ideas are relevant, such as socialization and confidence-building for advantages, and stress or family bonding for disadvantages. However, the development of these points is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument regarding stress is mentioned but not fully explored with specific examples or deeper reasoning. The conclusion attempts to summarize the points but becomes repetitive and slightly confusing in its phrasing. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is supported by a clear, distinct example or a more detailed explanation of the 'why' behind the argument.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are present, such as 'One of the main advantage', 'Despite of these advantages', and 'In conclusion'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'Despite of' (which should be 'Despite' or 'In spite of'). Additionally, the flow within the final paragraph is hindered by awkward sentence structures, making the progression of ideas feel slightly disjointed. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words would help the essay move more smoothly between points.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to convey their meaning clearly. There are some attempts at topic-specific vocabulary like 'socialize', 'team-building', and 'well being'. However, there are instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'certian age' (spelling error) and 'how sharing is helps them'. The range is somewhat limited, and the repetition of basic phrases like 'very young age' suggests a need for more varied synonyms to demonstrate a higher level of lexical control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that detract from the quality of the writing. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('One of the main advantage' instead of 'advantages'), incorrect preposition usage ('Despite of'), and awkward phrasing ('how sharing is helps them'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence construction in the conclusion is particularly problematic, leading to run-on sentences that lack clarity. Focusing on basic grammatical accuracy and refining complex sentence structures will significantly improve the score.
