Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent years, there has been a growing trend towards sending children to preschool at an early age especially when they are three or four years old. This development has both advantages and disadvantages. While some parents believe that preschool education is beneficial for their child, others say that children should go to school even if they understand basic things. Both the positives and drawbacks of this trend are discussed further.
On the one hand, there are several advantages of preschool education at an early age. To begin with, one of the main benefits is that children become more intelligent and smarter than other children. This is because they learn at school some basic manners and actively build their ability. As a result, they may grow in their career in an advanced way, which makes them independent, clever and honest people in their lives. For example, when children go to playcenter, it generally gives them benefits and prepares them extracurricular activities such as dancing, singing, and playing sports. Therefore, it is clear that sending children to preschool can have a positive impact on society.
On the other hand, this trend has some disadvantages to be considered. One significant drawback is that children can face some difficulties in their primary education, if they do not attend preschool studies. This is because children can not catch up with education easily compared to other students. As a result, they may not become smarter and quick learner after some time. For instance, children become slower in their education system and in acquiring basic knowledge and skills. Therefore, some students require wise study and guidance from their parents for their professional growth.
In conclusion, sending children to preschool or after primary school has both advantages and disadvantages. The main benefit is that children become intelligent and smarter compared to others, while the disadvantage is that they might face some challenges in their primary education. Therefore, it is important to consider both sides before deciding whether preschool education is beneficial.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both the advantages and disadvantages of preschool education. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument that children become 'more intelligent and smarter' is a broad generalization that lacks depth or nuanced explanation. The second body paragraph is slightly confusing, as it discusses the disadvantages of not attending preschool rather than the disadvantages of attending it, which slightly shifts the focus of the prompt. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific, logical explanations for your points rather than repeating similar ideas about 'intelligence' and 'skills'.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central topic. You use a range of cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'As a result', and 'On the other hand' to link your ideas. However, the progression of ideas within the paragraphs is sometimes repetitive, and the use of cohesive devices can feel a bit mechanical. The referencing is generally clear, but the transition between the advantages and disadvantages could be smoother to improve the overall flow of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. You rely on basic descriptors like 'smarter', 'intelligent', and 'good'. While these words are accurate, they do not demonstrate a wide range of lexical items. There are some minor issues with collocation, such as 'grow in their career in an advanced way', which sounds unnatural. To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and topic-specific vocabulary related to child development and education.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'prepares them extracurricular activities' (missing preposition) and 'children can not catch up with education easily'. Additionally, some phrasing is awkward, such as 'require wise study and guidance'. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage will help improve your accuracy.
