Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent years, an increasing number of people prefer to send their toddlers to a preschool at the age of three or four. While some parents contend that it is a right choice, other parents disagrees with this view. From my perspective, admitting a child to a preschool at age of 3 or 4 is suitable option. This essay explores the tension between the two opposing views.
A significant advantage that parents presume that their children can perform well in academics. Toddlers who joined the preschool at age of 3 or 4 are exposed to the curriculum much earlier than children who joins late to a preschool so this results in adapting to school life much quicker . This gives a massive boost in coping up with the syllabus in later years and can outperform their fellow classmates who was admitted to preschool late. Additionally, joining a play school in early age such as 3 or 4 can improve their social interaction with other students and reduces their dependency on their parents.
On the other side, some parents does not prefer to admit their kids to a preschool when they are 3 or 4 years old since they assume that the suitable age or time is not yet reached. This has some drawbacks such as addiction to screens. Due to the children’s tedious schedule in homes, kids are provided with screens such as phone or iPad to make them occupied while their parents are busy with household chores. This causes strain on the eyes and may cause social isolation. Furthermore, at the age of 3 or 4, while the process of mental maturity happens, keeping them inside homes make them comfortable with that atmosphere and they may find going to a preschool uncomfortable and misses their parents and home.
Overall, the evidence strongly suggests that the advantages of sending a child aged 3 or 4 to play school effortlessly outweigh the disadvantages of keeping them inside homes.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of early preschool attendance. The position is clear throughout, and the main ideas are supported with relevant examples, such as the mention of screen addiction as a negative consequence of staying home. However, some points could be developed further; for instance, the explanation of 'mental maturity' is slightly vague. The essay maintains a consistent focus on the prompt, and the conclusion effectively summarizes the writer's stance. To reach a higher band, ensure that all arguments are fully explored with more specific detail or illustrative examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme, and the progression of ideas is generally smooth. Cohesive devices such as 'Additionally', 'On the other side', and 'Furthermore' are used effectively to link sentences and paragraphs. However, there are minor issues with referencing and flow, such as the slightly repetitive structure in the second paragraph. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the advantages from the disadvantages, which helps the reader follow the argument without difficulty.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, with some attempts at using less common items like 'tedious schedule' and 'social isolation'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'admitting a child to a preschool' (enrolling is more natural) and 'coping up with' (the correct phrasal verb is 'coping with'). While the range is sufficient to convey meaning clearly, it lacks the precision and sophistication required for a higher band. Increasing the use of topic-specific collocations would improve the overall lexical quality.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'other parents disagrees', 'some parents does not', 'children who joins') and article usage. There are also minor errors in pluralization and prepositional phrases, such as 'in early age' instead of 'at an early age'. These errors do not impede communication, but they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic agreement and verb forms would be highly beneficial.
