Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The essay addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both advantages and disadvantages of early preschool attendance. The position is clear throughout, and the ideas are generally well-developed. For instance, you effectively link social development and parental support as key benefits, while identifying separation anxiety as a primary drawback. However, there is a minor error in the introduction where you refer to 'teenager' instead of 'toddlers' or 'young children', which is a slight lapse in task focus. To reach a higher band, ensure that all terminology is precise and that your supporting examples are consistently relevant to the specific age group mentioned in the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'In addition', and 'To flip side' to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or grammatically awkward, such as 'To flip side' (should be 'On the flip side') and 'To recapulate' (spelling error). Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as in the sentence 'those children who spend more time in preschool, they less contected', where the structure is repetitive and lacks smooth flow. Improving the variety and accuracy of your linking words will enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'socialise', 'emotionally insecure', and 'supervised environment'. However, there are several spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'funtadmental', 'chhildren', 'mau', 'moust', 'preshool', and 'recapulate'. These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, the spelling inaccuracies and occasional word-choice slips (e.g., 'teenager' instead of 'young children') prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for common spelling mistakes will significantly improve your lexical score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('those who want... is that', 'they provides'), missing articles, and awkward phrasing ('those children who spend more time in preschool, they less contected'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the frequency of these errors occasionally hinders the flow of the text. To improve, focus on mastering subject-verb agreement and ensuring that your complex sentences are grammatically sound. Increasing the number of error-free sentences will help you move into the higher band range.
