Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both advantages and disadvantages of preschool. However, the development of ideas is limited. The arguments regarding 'stress' in later life as a disadvantage are somewhat speculative and lack logical depth. While the essay covers the requirements, the points are under-developed and rely on generalizations. The position is clear, but the supporting evidence, such as the mention of an 'Oxford researcher,' is vague and lacks specific detail to be truly persuasive. To improve, you should focus on providing more concrete, logical explanations for your points rather than relying on unsupported claims.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, the phrase 'ratherthan' is used repeatedly and incorrectly as a transition. Additionally, some sentences are disjointed, making the progression of ideas feel repetitive. While there is an attempt to use linking words like 'Firstly' and 'Moreover,' the overall flow is hindered by awkward phrasing and a lack of variety in cohesive devices. Improving the transition between sentences and using a wider range of linking words would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'adpate' for 'adapt,' 'proform' for 'perform,' and 'particle' for 'practical.' These errors occasionally impede the reader's understanding. The range of vocabulary is basic, and there is little attempt to use less common or more precise lexical items. To reach a higher band, you should focus on learning correct collocations and expanding your range of academic vocabulary. Proofreading for common spelling mistakes and ensuring words are used in the correct context is essential for improvement.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that affect readability. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('children learn... how they learns'), incorrect sentence structure ('Sending preschool to children are have some advantage'), and misuse of prepositions and articles. While there is an attempt to use complex sentences, they are often faulty, leading to confusion. The majority of the sentences contain errors, which prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction, correct verb tenses, and subject-verb agreement will help you build a stronger foundation for more complex grammatical structures.
