Student answer (Band 6.0)

The upbringing of a young child plays an imperial role in the life of a guardian as the starting years lays the foundation of their upcoming journey of life. Therefore a few care takers believe it is right to send their toddlers to play school at the age of three to four while another group of guardians wait till they grow up a little more before sending them to school.

To start with the benefits of sending kids to pre school , first and foremost is they learn to spend time without parental support .To exemplify , a child usually do their daily life activities according to their parent especially mother but after attending pre school, they learn to do these activities by themselves . Children eat themselves, sleep without parental help , meet new people .Eventually they come out of their comfort zone .Secondly children experience a certain schedule to be followed everyday while going school resultantly become habitual to enter the actual learning environment of primary school.

On the other hand , sending them to pre school at early age have some negative impacts on the children. The predominant one is they feel traumatised and faces emotional setback because they mind is not ready to accept this sudden change ,due to which they got scared. Another point of relevance include additional stress on their mind which sometimes affect their cognitive ability in future

To conclude , i would like to state that sending children to play school have both pros and cons but the positive impacts cannot be overlooked as children learn to adapt to new surroundings in their initial age of their life .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both the advantages and disadvantages of preschool as required. The position is clear, and the main ideas—such as independence and social adaptation versus emotional trauma—are relevant. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the point regarding 'cognitive ability' is mentioned but not fully explained or supported with specific examples. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your arguments with more detailed reasoning or concrete illustrations. The conclusion is brief but effectively summarizes your stance.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for pros and cons, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To start with', 'To exemplify', and 'On the other hand', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition from discussing daily activities to the 'comfort zone' idea is a bit abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'upbringing', 'predominant', and 'cognitive ability'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, 'imperial role' is likely a misuse of 'pivotal' or 'integral', and 'care takers' is not the most precise term for parents. Additionally, there are minor errors in phrasing, such as 'resultantly become habitual'. While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on more precise collocations would be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'starting years lays', 'sending them... have', 'they mind is not ready') and punctuation (e.g., missing spaces after commas). Some sentences are also slightly awkward, such as 'a child usually do their daily life activities'. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic agreement errors and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed accurately. Increasing the variety of complex structures while maintaining accuracy will help raise your score.
