Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is often argued , what is the perfect age for children to attend school. Some believe around three or four would be ideal , others claim sending later ones they turned seven or eight is best. Both approaches have their own benefits and limitations.

On the one hand, early exposure to education is definitely beneficial as it allows them to learn disciplined, good habitats in a structured environment . When they become aware about various things such as friends, teachers and education from the starting age they will be more likely to adopt . For example , education is a long learning process that involves academic subjects and social values and it can be strongly developed among students with an early learning structure.

On the other hand, sending children to school at a late age gives them time to make a strong emotional connection with parents. Early years of childhood are extremely important and it's the responsibility of the guardian to look up at their child and provide emotional support. If there is more time spent at school it means less interaction with parents and effects family bonding . Moreover, it will create more pressure on small children who are not mentally ready to absorb much knowledge . The reason is that children's minds are not fully developed to understand all this knowledge at an early point . Therefore, it would be effective to get them enrolled at preschool age .

In conclusion, there is always a difference between people thinking that early enrollment builds much pressure and does not help to make strong child-family connections than early exposure benefits.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both the advantages and disadvantages of preschool education. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the benefits of early discipline are mentioned, the explanation is slightly repetitive. The disadvantages section is more detailed, focusing on emotional bonding and developmental readiness. The conclusion is slightly confusing, as it seems to contradict the previous paragraph by suggesting that early enrollment is effective, despite the preceding arguments about pressure. To reach a higher band, ensure that your position is consistent and that each point is fully extended with clear, logical reasoning rather than general statements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'Moreover', which provide a logical flow. However, some transitions are mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly in the conclusion where the summary of the arguments feels disjointed. The progression of ideas is generally logical, but the final sentence lacks clarity, which impacts the overall coherence of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, but there are several instances of awkward word choices and incorrect collocations. For example, 'good habitats' should be 'good habits', and 'look up at their child' is not a standard expression for parental care. Phrases like 'from the starting age' and 'absorb much knowledge' are understandable but lack precision. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and using more academic vocabulary to express concepts like 'developmental milestones' or 'nurturing environment' rather than relying on basic descriptive terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow, such as 'what is the perfect age' (should be 'as to what the perfect age is') and 'others claim sending later ones they turned seven' (which is syntactically broken). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and sentence construction will significantly improve your score.
