Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is debatable weather a large count of parents send their children to preschool in the early 3-4 years of their lives, nevertheless opposed by other guardians on the ground that they should wait until they are enough mature to handle themselves before sending them to an educational institution. I strongly agree with the latter viewpoint.

On the one hand, the most prominent point is that admitting a kid to school as early as possible can pave a path for them to adapt well manners as well as good behaviour very rapidly. To elaborate on it, not only does an educational institute helps a children to learn but also builds marvellous habits in them which supports them to achieve success later in their lives. Futhermore, the more years a kid gets to spend in the pre school the more it will help him/her to be familiar with all the concepts of education easily and if parents or teachers feel that the child needs to repeat a particular course then it will not put them behind as compared to other kids because they are already ahead of them.

On the other hand, some of the guardians send their kids to school regardless if they are ready or not because they are not able to take care of them for the whole days due to various reasons. To state an example, many parents go to jobs and they send their kids to daycares because they do not have time to stay with them. As a result, kids can lose the precious family time. Moreover, in many scenarios if a child is not prepared enough to handles him/herself in the preschool then there are high chances of them being a victim of distinct crime such as rapes and many more.

In conclusion, although there are significant benefits of the fact that children should join schools in their early age, I wholeheartedly hold the view that kids needs to be mature enough to spend the time in pre schools alone to stay safer.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both advantages and disadvantages of preschool. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While you provide a clear position, the argument regarding the disadvantages is problematic. Specifically, the claim that children in preschool are at risk of 'distinct crime such as rapes' is an extreme, unsubstantiated assertion that detracts from the logical flow of the essay. To improve, focus on more common, relevant concerns such as the loss of parental bonding or the stress of early academic pressure. The conclusion is clear, but the overall development of the 'advantages' section could be more detailed to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. You use cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'Furthermore' to link your points. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the pronoun 'it' is used ambiguously. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal cohesion within the paragraphs could be improved by ensuring that each sentence flows more naturally into the next rather than relying on standard linking phrases.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including phrases like 'pave a path' and 'educational institution'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'large count of parents' (instead of 'large number'), 'enough mature' (instead of 'mature enough'), and 'adapt well manners' (instead of 'adopt good manners'). These errors are noticeable but do not generally impede communication. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring that your word choices are contextually appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('kids needs to be', 'institute helps a children') and spelling errors ('weather' instead of 'whether', 'Futhermore'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence structure is occasionally clunky. To reach a higher band, you need to increase the frequency of error-free sentences and ensure that complex structures are used with greater accuracy, particularly regarding pluralization and verb forms.
