Student answer (Band 7.0)
It is irrefutable that numerous parents prefer to enroll their offspring in preschool in early ages while others delay sending them for a few more years. While early admission to preschool leads to healthier habits and holistic development of young ones, it may result in increased burden and weak family bonds.
Although there are a few advantages to this, the major one is that toddlers grasp everything quickly in early ages due to curiosity. When they partake in various activities at kindergarten, they can develop their motor skills and cognitive abilities. While communicating with teachers and co-students, they also learn new words which improves their linguistic abilities. Moreover, young learners adopt healthier hobbies such as reading, drawing, dancing and so on. As teachers give productive tasks to students, young people stay away from bad habits such as using electronic devices. Therefore, children become disciplined in their young age and utilise their leisure time productively.
On the other hand, the burden of going to school may slow down the growth of youngsters. This is because, children's mind are not fully developed to learn multiple things in a short time. When parents expect their little ones to perform better than others, young people feel stressed and it may hinder their growth. Furthermore, due to spending more time at school, children cannot spend enough time with family members. Due to this, a lot of toddlers do not share strong bonds with their loved ones. Not only this have a detrimental impact on children's psychological health, but also it leads to a wider generational gap. Hence, the weak family connections results in misundertandings in adulthood.
In conclusion, if the development of skills and useful habits are the benefits of starting school in early age, the increased mental stress and a wider gap among generations are some drawbacks that cannot be neglected.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt by discussing the advantages and disadvantages of early preschool attendance. The position is clear from the introduction and maintained throughout the essay. The ideas are relevant, such as the development of motor skills and the potential for increased stress or reduced family bonding. However, the development of these points is somewhat generic. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific, concrete examples or deeper analysis of the consequences mentioned. For instance, explaining how specific activities in preschool translate to long-term cognitive gains would strengthen the argument significantly.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central topic, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow. You use a range of cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'On the other hand', and 'Furthermore' to link ideas effectively. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing in the third paragraph ('Not only this have a detrimental impact') is grammatically awkward, which slightly disrupts the flow. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring they are used with greater precision would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to discuss the topic with some precision, using terms like 'holistic development', 'cognitive abilities', and 'detrimental impact'. There is an attempt to use less common vocabulary, which is generally successful. However, there are minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'in early ages' (should be 'at an early age') and 'co-students' (a less natural term than 'peers' or 'classmates'). The spelling is generally accurate, but the vocabulary range is somewhat limited to standard academic phrases. Expanding your repertoire of idiomatic or more precise academic collocations would improve this score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you successfully employ complex sentences, there are several grammatical errors that persist. For example, 'children's mind are' should be 'children's minds are', and 'Not only this have' should be 'Not only does this have'. Additionally, 'the weak family connections results' contains a subject-verb agreement error. Despite these errors, the meaning is always clear, and the mistakes do not impede communication. To achieve a higher band, you need to demonstrate more consistent control over complex structures and ensure subject-verb agreement is accurate throughout the text.
