Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some of the parents believe that that children should be sent to preschool when they are at the age of three or four years. While other send their kids to primary school when they are of a certain age. Positive and negetive sides of the preschool at such a young age will be explained in this essay.

Some of the positive sides of preschool are that some of the parents believe that the kids will start learning fearly, and it will help them even further in their education career. From my perspective, it's right in some way due to the fact that's their learning stage and their mind are in developing. In addition to that, when children start learing at such a young age they are going to be prepared for their upcoming student life and can acquire usefull skills. Kids start learing rapidly and their intellectucal skills are foster much more at preschool. Moreover, teachers placed them in groups tasks, such as, drawing, playing with other objects like building specific structures. Mking new friends make them feel wanted. I consider that their fostering should start from a young age to boost their creativity and for the enhancement of thinking ability.

While others believe that adolescents are to be sent to preschool when they are of an age. Some parents want to love and care of their kids to a certain age. When they are ready and old enough then the parents admit them in school. Kids' minds are still at a developing stage, and they should be nature and receive love from their guardians. It is for the betterment of the children to be taken care of by their parents till they are old enough to know what's right and wrong. However, some parents send kids to preschool for learning swiftly. But learning ought to commence from home first. Recently, I have seen some kids in my neighborhood whom are sent off to preschhol. Those kids could not even talk properly which is a bad idea according to me.

In conclusion, I think that parents should love and foster their kids at home initially. When they are old enough then it is the right age to send them to preschool. Adoring and caring for the kids improve their well-being.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of sending children to preschool at a young age. The student outlines positive aspects, such as early learning, socialization, and cognitive development, as well as drawbacks, including the importance of parental care and the emotional readiness of the child. However, some ideas are repetitive or under-developed, particularly in the conclusion where the arguments become slightly generalized and vague. The position is generally clear throughout the essay, though the overall development would benefit from deeper exploration of specific points rather than listing multiple general ideas. This performance aligns well with Band 6.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, including an introduction, body paragraphs addressing advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion, which shows an overall logical arrangement. Cohesive devices are utilized, such as 'In addition to that', 'Moreover', and 'However', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'While others believe that adolescents are to be sent to preschool when they are of an age', where the term 'adolescents' is incorrectly used to refer to toddlers or young children. Paragraphing is present and generally appropriate, but the logical progression between sentences occasionally falters due to cohesion errors. This corresponds to a Band 6 score.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student attempts a range of vocabulary appropriate for the topic, such as 'cognitive development', 'creativity', and 'enhancement'. However, there are notable word choice and collocation errors throughout the text, including 'fearly' instead of 'early', 'intellectucal' instead of 'intellectual', 'Mking' instead of 'Making', and the inappropriate use of 'adolescents' for three or four-year-old children. Spelling errors like 'negetive' and 'preschhol' also occur. While the vocabulary is adequate to convey the general meaning of the arguments, the frequency of lexical inaccuracies prevents the score from reaching a higher band, placing it firmly at Band 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some attempt at grammatical variety with structures like 'While other send their kids...' and 'When they are ready and old enough...'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors and awkward phrasing throughout the text, such as 'Some of the parents believe that that children', 'their mind are in developing', 'teachers placed them in groups tasks', and 'whom are sent off'. Punctuation and subject-verb agreement errors are also noticeable. Although these errors do not completely impede communication, their frequency means the majority of sentences are not error-free, making Band 5.0 the most appropriate descriptor.
