Student answer (Band 6.5)
Some parents send their children to preschool when they are three or four years old only; however, others wait until their children are old enough for primary school. In my view, there are some benefits of sending children to preschool at a young age such as reduced workload for parents and more time for children to settle in their career. Nevertheless, it also exert more academic pressure on young children as well as result in compromised realtionships with their parents.
Firstly, sending children to preschool at a young age means parents do not need to miss thier working hours in order to take care their children. They can attend their jobs when their young ones are studying at the school. It reduces their workload and give increases their comfort and convenience. Secondly, when children start attending preschool at an early age, they will finish their education well ahead of other students, and eventually start earning. They will have more time to explore different career choices before getting married and settling in their lives.
On the other hand, sending young children to preschool might increase their academic workload. At a young age, a child's brain is not fully developed to learn and understand various complex educational subjects. Therefore, it might result in poor academic performance and reduced confidence among children. Furthermore, when children start going to preschool at a young age, it would not allow them to spend time with thier guardians, therefore they would not be able to form a warm connection with their parents. Eventually, thier realtionships might be compromised.
In concusion, tough sending children to preschool at a young age posses certain benefits such as reduced parental workload and provide more time for children to settle in thier professional lives, it will also put more academic pressure on young children and weakens thier personal bonding with thier parents.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The student addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of sending children to preschool at a young age. A clear position is established in the introduction and maintained throughout the essay. The ideas presented, such as reducing parental workload, financial and career acceleration, academic pressure, and parent-child bonding, are relevant and extended with supporting explanations. For example, the writer explains how finishing education earlier allows for more time to explore career choices. However, some arguments, like children settling in their careers faster, border on over-generalisation for three-year-olds. Overall, the task is well addressed, earning a solid Band 7.0 for Task Achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay displays a clear logical organization and progression throughout. Each paragraph has a distinct focus, moving smoothly from the introduction to the advantages, the disadvantages, and finally the conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' are used to structure the text, though some transitional phrasing feels slightly mechanical. Paragraphing is used appropriately and effectively to separate the distinct themes of the essay. Referencing is generally clear, though minor cohesive slips occur. This performance corresponds well to the Band 7.0 descriptors for Coherence and Cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates a sufficient range of vocabulary to allow for flexibility and precision, employing terms like 'workload', 'academic pressure', 'compromised relationships', and 'professional lives'. Less common lexical items are attempted, such as 'realtoinships' (misspelled) and 'guardians'. However, there are noticeable spelling errors throughout the text, including 'thier', 'concusion', 'tough' (intended as though), and 'posses'. These mechanical spelling errors and occasional awkward word choices slightly limit the impression of the vocabulary, keeping the lexical score at a Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The writer employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating the ability to use subordinate clauses effectively (e.g., 'when children start going to preschool at a young age, it would not allow them to spend time...'). There are frequent error-free sentences, alongside some grammatical errors such as subject-verb agreement issues ('it also exert') and prepositional slips ('take care their children' instead of 'take care of'). Punctuation is generally acceptable. Because there is a good mix of structures with control over complex sentences despite some recurring errors that do not impede communication, a Band 6.5 is well-deserved.
