Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent years, some individuals send their kids school at very young age while some still take time and and after the age of 5 send them school. While both the ideas have their on benefits and drawbacks which I will discuss further in this essay.

On the one hand, if pupils start learning at early age it benefits them in the future education. They gain knowledge at young age compare to others. It becomes less daunting for them learn anything as they become used to it. They become familier to the school environment. In addition, learn faster and ace in life. For instance, they can finish their studies and start their career at early age. As a result more mature and and educated generation is developed.

On the other hand, when children start schooling at early age they have to spend more time in school then with their parents and family. In addition parents start expecting to have good grades from kids. At the age of playing and exploring the world this little ones have to force themselves to learn. This results into weaker bonds between parents and child and also with siblings. For instance, one study in Luxumberg university found their children who spend less time with their parents or grandparents are found weaker in any relationships in later life.

To conclude, while there are numerous upside of early schooling of kids there are downside too. Proper consideration and understanding is required according to kid's need. Whether they schould be sent to school at young age or not.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of sending children to preschool at a young age. A clear position is maintained throughout the essay. The advantages, such as future educational benefits and familiarity with the school environment, are discussed in the second body paragraph. The disadvantages, including spending less time with family and the psychological pressure on young children, are explored in the third body paragraph. While the ideas are relevant, some points are slightly under-developed or expressed with a degree of generalisation, such as the broad claim that children will automatically 'ace in life'. However, the overall task requirements are adequately met, corresponding well to a Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introductory paragraph, two body paragraphs presenting opposing views, and a brief conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised appropriately to separate ideas. Cohesive devices are employed to signal transitions, as seen with phrases like 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'To conclude'. However, cohesion is at times mechanical or faulty, and referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the abrupt transition in sentence structures and minor issues with logical progression between sentences. Despite these lapses, the overall organisation is easy to follow, supporting a Band 6.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common lexical items such as 'daunting', 'familier' (spelling error for familiar), and 'luxumberg' (Luxembourg). There are several noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'school kids' instead of 'send their kids to school', 'at early age' missing articles, and 'upside' and 'downside' used instead of their plural forms. Although these errors occur, the vocabulary used is sufficient to convey the intended meaning without severely impeding communication, fitting the Band 6.0 descriptor.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms. Examples of complex structures include 'While both the ideas have their on benefits...' and 'when children start schooling at early age they have to spend more time...'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly missing articles ('at very young age', 'at early age', 'in Luxumberg university'), preposition errors ('send them school'), and agreement issues ('this little ones'). Punctuation and sentence structures also contain minor flaws. Because the errors occur regularly but rarely impede overall comprehension, a Band 5.5 is appropriate.
