Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of sending children to preschool at a young age. The writer takes a clear stance and presents relevant ideas, such as social development and parental freedom as advantages, balanced against separation anxiety and the risk of losing close familial bonds as disadvantages. The ideas are extended and supported with logical explanations, such as mentioning how preschools help children make a smooth transition to primary school. While some points could be slightly more deeply developed, the overall coverage meets the expectations for Band 6.5 or 7.0. Given the positive marking approach and the clear discussion of both sides, this fulfills the criteria well.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay displays a clear overall progression with a recognizable introduction, body paragraphs addressing advantages and disadvantages respectively, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'However', and 'In conclusion' are employed to guide the reader through the text, although some referencing and transitional phrasing are a bit mechanical, for instance, 'after giving a birth, parents usally don't get enough time'. Overall, the logical organization is clear, but minor lapses in cohesion prevent it from reaching a higher band, placing it solidly in the Band 6.0 to 6.5 range.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'contemporary era', 'structural environment', and 'separation anxiety'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'usally' instead of usually, 'develp' instead of develop, 'sparation' instead of separation, and 'thoughout' instead of throughout. Furthermore, collocations like 'giving a birth' (giving birth) and 'associate with' (associated with) contain minor inaccuracies. These errors do not impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score to a Band 6.0, as the vocabulary is functional rather than precise or flexible.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over grammar with structures such as 'if they send their children to preschools not only can they get enough time for themselves but also children can develp...'. However, there are several grammatical and mechanical errors present, such as 'children to send them to preschool' (redundant pronoun), 'three or four years children' (should be three- or four-year-old children), and 'may loss' instead of may lose. Punctuation and article use also show occasional inaccuracies. Because these errors occur with some frequency but rarely impede the overall communication of ideas, the response fits the Band 6.0 descriptor well.
