Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of sending children to preschool at a young age. The student identifies benefits such as fast learning processes and socialization, alongside drawbacks like reduced parental time and missing out on family customs. However, some ideas remain slightly under-developed and lack extension. For instance, the mention of family customs and religious norms is introduced in the third paragraph but not fully elaborated with concrete examples. Overall, the position is clear throughout, and the key requirements of the task are met adequately, aligning well with the expectations of Band 6.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear four-paragraph structure comprising an introduction, two body paragraphs covering advantages and disadvantages respectively, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. Words and phrases like 'The supreme advantage', 'Although', and 'In conclusion' are used to signal transitions, but referencing and logical progression can be slightly disjointed at times, such as the abrupt shift between sentences in the second body paragraph ('Although, there are certain drawbacks of pre schooling...'). Furthermore, punctuation errors occasionally disrupt the flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student attempts to use a range of vocabulary suitable for the topic, including terms such as 'socialized', 'nurture', and 'custom'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, such as 'inevietable' instead of inevitable, 'charector' instead of character, 'notions' instead of notion, 'habis' instead of habits, 'fastly' instead of quickly, and 'qaulity' instead of quality. These lexical inaccuracies and spelling mistakes occur frequently, although they rarely impede overall communication. The range is minimally adequate for the task, which corresponds to Band 5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some variety in structure with dependent clauses introduced by words like 'while' and 'although'. However, there are numerous grammatical errors and awkward phrasing throughout the response, such as 'waiting for them to grow up at certain age', 'they can grab a learning skills', 'child makes daily routine', and 'child can not be able to learn'. Punctuation errors, such as spaces before commas, are also present. These frequent errors in grammar and mechanics occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, placing the writing firmly in Band 5.
