Student answer (Band 5.5)

A handfull of parents are prefer to leave their kids at pre school when they are in their early age so they can learn basic thing like how to sit and stand , how to eat and so on, However others are like to wait to grow thier children enough so they can able to go primary school because they want to teach their children first and send them to the school. There are many merits and demerits of this phenomena. I will discuss my viewpoints in upcoming pargraphs with valid examples.

On the one hand, parents send their kids to pre school because, they are working so they do not have enough time to send with their children.Hence, they prefer to send them to the pre school so that they can take care of them . And they can teach them some basic things in life. Apart from this, sometime parents think that, when their kids go out like pre school, they will see the world or different things instead of stay home and in one room. Furhthermore, they can see the other kids too. With them they can play, eat and do many more things. Also, they become extrovert from thier ealry age.

On the other hand, sending chilfren to pre school also have some drawbacks such as, sometime they feel uncomfertable to see some many people . Due to this they may will start crying. In addition, children always recognized their mom from their early age so if their mother is not always their for them, they may do not feel good and happy. THerafter, some parents always wants keep thier kids in front of thier eyes and they teach them the basic things instead of that they learn in pre school.

To conculde, although it has many benefits to send kids to pre school but there drawbacks can not be overlooked. I believe that, they should experince to send their choildren pre school they can do many things instead of only stay home and play with thier family member.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of sending children to preschool at a young age, aligning with a mid-tier performance. The writer presents a clear position throughout the essay and introduces relevant ideas, such as children learning basic life skills, socialising with peers, and potential drawbacks like separation anxiety or discomfort in unfamiliar environments. However, many of these ideas are somewhat limited and under-developed, relying on simple explanations rather than fully elaborated arguments supported by concrete examples or detailed elaboration. To move to a higher band, the writer would need to extend their ideas further, offering more thorough explanations and fully exploring the implications of early childhood education rather than briefly mentioning points like 'how to sit and stand'.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, dividing the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion adequately. The writer attempts to signal logical progression using basic cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'To conculde'. However, referencing and cohesion are at times mechanical or faulty, as seen with repetitive phrasing and occasional awkward transitions. For instance, sentences like 'Apart from this, sometime parents think that...' disrupt the natural flow of ideas. To achieve a higher band, the writer must employ a wider range of cohesive devices more flexibly and ensure that referencing within and between sentences is consistently clear and unobtrusive.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is minimally adequate for the task, providing enough range to communicate basic points about preschool education, such as 'socialise', 'basic things', and 'drawbacks'. However, the lexical range is limited and contains numerous spelling and word-choice errors, including 'handfull', 'pre school' (inconsistent spacing), 'thier', 'ealry', 'chilfren', and 'uncomfertable'. Furthermore, the writer relies heavily on basic, repetitive vocabulary and simple expressions. To progress to a higher band, the writer needs to incorporate a wider and more precise range of vocabulary, including less common lexical items related to education and child development, while significantly improving spelling accuracy and word collocation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some capacity to construct multi-clause sentences, such as '...parents send their kids to pre school because, they are working so they do not have enough time...'. Nevertheless, the writing is heavily marred by frequent grammatical, punctuation, and structural errors, including missing articles, incorrect verb forms ('are prefer', 'they may will start'), and faulty punctuation spacing. Attempts at complex sentences are frequently flawed, which occasionally causes difficulty for the reader. To reach a higher level, the writer must produce a greater proportion of error-free sentences and exercise firmer control over verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, and complex clause structures.
