Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays almost all the household with kids have both parents working to earn a better living and provide their child with the leisure and education the child needs. But some parents are unable to spare time for their children so they send them to preschool. Some parents on other hand have themselves or someone to look after the children and believe that the child would learn more at home and they'll be able to spent more time with them.
Every child is different and sending children to preschool at a young age has its advantages and disadvantages. Starting with the advantages, firstly, children going to preschool tend to learn social skills that help them later on when they go to primary school, secondly, they are taught about sensory activitie, thirdly, they are provided with different games to play that help them learn in various ways that are not possible at home. Now talking about the disadvantages, the first and most important factor is the expense of sending the children to preschool. Secondly, the children get to spend less time with the parents. Thirdly, the values and morals the children learn from the parents cannot be taught in preschool. The first few years of a child are the memorable moments for every parent and also it is important to spend more time with parent in that early age. My newphew was being sent to preschool and he did have a sharp mind and learned some valuable skills in preschool and now he is in secondary school and that preschool in his childhood have helped him with everything until now.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of sending children to preschool at a young age, thereby covering the prompt adequately. Your position is generally clear throughout the essay. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. For instance, while you list several points under advantages such as learning social skills and sensory activities, and disadvantages like expense and reduced time with parents, these points remain somewhat brief and list-like without sufficient expansion or detailed supporting examples. To reach a higher level, you need to extend your main ideas by explaining the underlying reasons and giving more detailed elaboration or specific examples beyond a brief mention of a nephew.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement and logical progression of ideas, moving from an introductory discussion of background trends to clearly demarcated advantages and disadvantages. You make use of transition signals and listing devices such as 'firstly', 'secondly', and 'thirdly' to structure your body paragraph. However, the cohesion can feel somewhat mechanical and repetitive, particularly in the listing sequence. Additionally, paragraphing is under-utilised, as the entire discussion of advantages and disadvantages is crammed into a single massive body paragraph rather than being separated into distinct thematic paragraphs. Improving your paragraphing and varying your cohesive devices would provide a clearer logical structure and better flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating some less common items such as 'sensory activitie', 'values and morals', and 'secondary school'. However, there are notable word form, spelling, and word choice inaccuracies that occur throughout the text, such as 'household' instead of 'households', 'activitie' instead of 'activities', and 'spent' instead of 'spend'. You also exhibit some awkward collocation and phrasing, such as 'My newphew was being sent to preschool'. While these lexical slips and minor spelling errors do not seriously impede communication, they restrict the vocabulary score by showing inconsistency in less common lexical items and precise word control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating that you can attempt multi-clause structures such as 'Some parents on other hand have themselves or someone to look after the children and believe that...'. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, including missing articles ('at early age'), subject-verb agreement issues ('all the household... have'), and awkward passive constructions ('My newphew was being sent'). Punctuation is also occasionally weak with run-on phrasing and comma splices in the opening paragraphs. Nevertheless, these errors rarely impede overall communication, and you maintain a reasonable level of control over basic structures while attempting a variety of sentence patterns.
