Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of sending children to preschool at a young age, thereby covering all parts of the task. However, the development of ideas is uneven and limited. While the writer manages to present some relevant points, such as brain development and separation anxiety, these ideas remain somewhat under-developed and lack sufficient extension. For instance, the point regarding separation anxiety transitions abruptly into unverified claims about psychological problems without deeper elaboration. The position is generally clear throughout the essay, but the overall treatment of the topic sits at a level where ideas are presented rather than fully explored or supported with strong, well-integrated examples, aligning with the description of addressing the task partially with limited ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement and successfully uses basic paragraphing to separate the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion, which fulfills the requirements of the lower band. There is a clear attempt to logically sequence ideas, moving from advantages to disadvantages and concluding with a summary. However, cohesion is at times mechanical or faulty, relying heavily on basic transitional phrases like 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'On the flip side'. Referencing is not always entirely clear, as seen in pronoun usage ('he is start sit', 'they do not want to leave them'), which occasionally disrupts the flow. The progression of ideas bridges the lower band successfully while showing glimpses of logical organisation that characterize the next level up.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to convey the basic message of the prompt. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary items, such as 'separation anxiety' and 'development', but struggles with accuracy in word choice, collocation, and word formation. There are noticeable errors throughout the text, including awkward phrases like 'mental problem from childhood', 'pyschytric problemwho', and 'harmfull effect'. Spelling and morphological inaccuracies, such as 'childern' and 'benefical', are frequent enough to cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a restricted lexical range that struggles to move beyond basic expression.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The grammatical structure of the essay is characterized by a very limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside poorly controlled attempts at complex forms. Frequent errors in grammar are apparent in almost every sentence, particularly regarding verb forms, tenses, subject-verb agreement, and articles. Examples such as 'he is start sit', 'Some baby having', and 'Early school baby not able' demonstrate a lack of fundamental control over English syntax. These frequent errors often cause difficulty for the reader and obscure the intended meaning, placing the performance firmly within a band where grammatical control is heavily constrained.
