Student answer (Band 4.5)
Nowadays some parents send their kids to kindergarten when they are three or four years old. Other parents wait until their children are old enough for primary school before they send them to school. There are advantages and disadvantages to this topic.
Firstly, some parents send their children to preschool when they are very young. Somehow, this trick is very effective and beneficial for children starting school at a young age. For instance, they start school in their premature age and learn new things more quickly than other children. In this stage, childrens cognintive skills, learning techniques, and adaptation really matter to make them fast learners in the future. In addition, starting preschool at a young age is a very significant aspect for newcomers. Where they learn new activities before primary school, they get to know how to behave and prepare themselves for the next step. Moreover, they build the confidence to talk with other kids at school and make new friends there. Many teachers start to teach them how they can get involved in different activities with the other students.
On the other hand, many parents wait until their children are old enough for primary school. Furthermore, this is detrimantal impact on their cognitive and learning skills. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response responds to the task only minimally, and the length requirement is not met. The student's response contains 222 words, falling short of the 250-word minimum, and 47 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. While the writer touches upon both sending children to preschool early and waiting until primary school, the ideas are presented in a very limited and repetitive fashion. The position is not fully articulated, and the arguments lack sufficient extension or relevant supporting examples, keeping the response at this modest level.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
Information and ideas are not arranged in a fully coherent manner, though a basic structure is attempted with introductory and concluding remarks. The progression of ideas is often unclear, jumping between concepts without smooth transitions. Cohesive devices are used mechanically, such as the repetitive use of 'Furthermore' and 'Moreover', and referencing is sometimes confusing, as seen in sentences starting abruptly. Paragraphing is present, but the internal logical flow requires much stronger links to guide the reader through the arguments effectively.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and adequate only for basic communication. There are noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word form, such as 'premature age' instead of 'early age', 'cognintive', 'detrimantal', 'chlidren', and 'get attach'. These errors reflect a restricted range of vocabulary and cause some difficulty for the reader, preventing the text from achieving a higher rating.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
There is a very limited range of sentence structures, with frequent grammatical errors that can cause difficulty for the reader. The text contains issues with subject-verb agreement and prepositional patterns, such as 'childrens cognintive skills', 'chlidren are lack basic knowledge', and 'children starting preschool at a young age is the best way'. Attempts at complex structures are often faulty, and punctuation errors are present throughout the response.
