Student answer (Band 5.0)

In the modern era, most parents send their children to educational institutions when they are young to gain knowledge earlier. At the same time, some parents send their children to school when they are 5 or 6 years old.

From my perspective, some people send their young ones to school at a very early age. Because they think that if their children start school at a very early age, then they will understand everything very quickly. In my sister's opinion, she said that they will send their children to learning institutions in the future. Their children will get more education at a very early age.

On the other hand, some parents send their children when they are 6 years old. From their perspective, if they send their children to educational institutions, then their young ones get overburdened and do not gain any kind of information or knowledge, A good one example if from my family is that my older sister has one child, and she said that I will send my children to school when they are 5 or 6. According to her, If she will send to their children to school at a very young age then their child get overburden and her gaining capacity will be dormant.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response recognises both choices—starting preschool early and waiting until around five or six—and gives a basic reason for each: early learning may help children understand things sooner, while starting later may avoid overburdening them. However, the discussion is only partial and the ideas remain under-developed. The claimed benefits and drawbacks are asserted rather than explained, and the family example repeats the later-starting view without showing its effects. The task also asks for advantages and disadvantages, but these are not clearly organised or balanced. The response contains 209 words, so it does not meet the 250-word minimum. Develop each side with a clear explanation and a relevant, specific example, then state a clear overall position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organisation: the opening introduces the two approaches, and “On the other hand” signals a shift to parents who wait. The reader can generally follow the contrast between early and later schooling. However, the response has no clear concluding paragraph, and the progression within the body is limited. The first body paragraph moves from a general claim to “my sister’s opinion” without clarifying whether this is evidence or a separate point. The second paragraph contains a long, difficult-to-follow sentence combining the family example and its explanation. Repeated conditional phrasing also makes the links feel mechanical. Use one paragraph for each side, connect each reason to its consequence, and finish with a brief conclusion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main topic, with relevant terms such as “educational institutions,” “overburdened,” and “gaining capacity.” However, the range is limited and several expressions are repeated, especially “young age,” “children,” and “educational institutions.” Some choices are unnatural or imprecise: “understand everything very quickly” is too broad, while “her gaining capacity will be dormant” does not clearly express the intended concern. “A good one example” is also an awkward phrase. Aim for more precise language about early learning and readiness, such as “develop foundational skills,” “feel overwhelmed,” or “be emotionally ready for formal education.” Vary repeated nouns and use collocations that express the intended meaning directly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts complex sentences with “if” clauses, but these structures are often faulty, and the range remains limited. For example, “if she will send to their children” has an incorrect verb pattern and tense, while “their child get overburden” contains agreement and verb-form errors. The sentence beginning “From their perspective” also runs into the following example without a clear sentence boundary, and the capitalisation of “If” after a comma is incorrect. These errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Practise accurate conditional forms, subject–verb agreement, and sentence boundaries. For instance, write “If parents send their children early, they may feel overwhelmed” and separate the family example into shorter, complete sentences.
