Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

You identify the topic and give one relevant advantage: starting early may help children learn skills such as time management and completing homework. However, the response addresses only a small part of the task. It does not explain any disadvantages, develop the advantage with reasons or examples, or provide a clear overall discussion. The opening mainly restates the prompt rather than presenting a developed answer. The response is also substantially below the required 250 words, so there is not enough material to demonstrate a full response to the task. To improve, discuss both benefits and drawbacks, explain each point, and support them with a relevant example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening introduces the topic, followed by a sentence beginning “the advantage is”. This gives the reader a simple indication of the direction of the answer. However, the ideas are not developed into clear paragraphs, and the response ends before a complete progression is established. The relationship between early preschool and “time mangement” or homework is asserted rather than explained. There are no linking expressions to guide the reader through reasons, examples, or a contrasting disadvantage. Build a clear structure with an introduction, separate paragraphs for advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion; use simple connectors such as “for example,” “however,” and “as a result” to show how ideas relate.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response uses a small set of relevant words, including “young ages,” “skills,” “time mangement,” and “home work,” so the general topic is understandable. However, the vocabulary range is narrow and several spelling or word-choice problems reduce accuracy: “demostrate,” “youngones,” “there kids,” and “mangement” are not correctly formed or spelled. Some expressions are also imprecise, such as “start early” and “many new skills,” which do not specify what children might learn. Aim to use accurate topic vocabulary, for example “early childhood education,” “social skills,” and “independence,” and check spelling carefully. More precise wording would help express and develop your ideas.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both a longer opening sentence and a sentence introducing an advantage, showing some ability to connect ideas. However, control of sentence structure and punctuation is inconsistent. The opening is a run-on construction, with no clear punctuation separating the contrast between parents who send children early and those who wait. In “while other wait for there kids to grow more then only they will send toddler,” the subject and verb do not agree, and the clause structure is difficult to follow. The final sentence also lacks punctuation and a clear grammatical connection between learning skills and doing homework. Practise writing complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs, and use full stops and commas to separate ideas.
