Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, there are sone debates about wherher it is beneficial for children to spend some time at preschool or not. While, there might be some cons, it might have its own prons as well. In my opinion, spending some quality time at preschool will definetlly be advantages for youngsters.

Due to the hectic lifestyles most people have these days, there won't be enough time left for parents to spend with their own kids. The majority of families are preoccupied with having full-time job and being outside for a great deal of their time. So that, children need to be taken care by third parties. Although, some grandparents look after their granchild, others send to preschools. Since, many believe that going to preschool has its own benefits such as independancy for children, as well as despline. The more children spend time with their peers, the better they socialize.

However, others believe that spending time at preschool might have some disadvantages. They claim spending time away from their own parents may become emotionally affected . In addition, a child might feel abandon at this age if her/his guardian does not put enough efforts spendig time with kids. Children at this age are totally attached to their parents and sometimes they are not able to handle peer pressures or any kind of challenge that take place during preschool time. Therefore, some parents prefrance is to taking care of their own children at home and send them to school at age of 5 or 6.

In my opinion, children will become more independant and scioable if they spend some time away from home. Hence, sending children to preschool at ages of 3 or 4 will surely be beneficial, especially for working parent.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both sides of the question and state a clear preference for preschool, especially in the opening and conclusion. Relevant advantages include children becoming more independent and socialising with peers; you also mention possible emotional effects of separation and difficulty handling peer pressure. However, these points are mostly asserted rather than explained or supported with a specific example. The discussion also shifts toward parents’ work schedules, which explains why childcare is needed but does not fully establish the educational advantages or disadvantages of preschool. Develop each main point with a reason or example, and make the comparison between early preschool and starting at primary-school age more explicit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph on advantages, a paragraph on disadvantages, and a concluding opinion. This helps the reader follow the broad direction of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and several linking expressions are used inaccurately or mechanically, such as “So that,” “Although” at the start of a complete thought, and “Since” introducing a fragment. The conclusion repeats the preference but does not draw together the main points. Improve the links between cause and result, and use pronouns and transitions only when their references and grammatical roles are clear.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “hectic lifestyles,” “preoccupied,” “independence,” and “peer pressures.” These choices show some range beyond basic words. However, spelling and word-form errors are frequent and sometimes make the reader pause: “sone,” “definetlly,” “granchild,” “despline,” and “independant” are examples. Some combinations are also unnatural, including “spend some quality time at preschool” and “emotionally affected.” The repeated use of “spend time” and “children” limits flexibility. Check spelling carefully, learn common collocations as phrases, and choose precise terms such as “emotional distress” where appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses beginning with “While,” “Although,” and “if,” but control is inconsistent. Several sentences contain faulty clause construction or missing grammatical elements: “So that, children need to be taken care by third parties” and “Since, many believe…” are not complete, well-formed sentences. Other examples include “having full-time job,” “a child might feel abandon,” and “their own parents may become emotionally affected,” where articles, verb forms, or sentence meaning need attention. Punctuation around introductory clauses is also unreliable. Practise building complete sentences with one clear main clause, then check articles, verb forms, and agreement.
