Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some parents enroll their children into preschool from the ages 4-5years old, while others wait untill their offsprings are old enough before enrolling them into primary school. Although children that are sent to preschool can develop good social skills because they come in daily contact with other kids their age, they can also be exposed to disadvantages like emulating bad behaviors from other children.

A major benefit of preschool in children is the development of their social skills. They are opportuned to start interacting with children within their age group and adults that are not part of their families. For example, preschool pupils get to interact with other kids and make friends which builds strong interpersonal relationship skills and reduce social akwardness.

Also, attending preschool exposes kids to different cultures and religious ways of life. They start to understand that there are unique beliefs in various homes. An example is a child born in a muslim family meets a child born in a christian home.

Where there are pros, there are also cons. One of the disadvantage of enrolling kids into preschool is that they may be exposed to bad habits from the other kids who come from unstable families. For instance, a child may start stealing or bullying other children because of the friend he or she has in preschool.

Another disadvantage is exposure to foul languages that are not used in the child's home on a normal basis. A clear example is when a child hears the teacher or another classmate use abusive words. At this their stage of development, thesewrong words can easily become a part of them.

In summary, sending your children in the age bracket of 4-5years to preschool can greatly improve their social abilities, enhance their interpersonal skills and educate them on religious diversity. Nevertheless, it could also expose them to bad habits like bullying or stealing and foul languages.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both sides of the question and maintain a clear overall position: preschool can support social development and cultural awareness, but may expose children to undesirable behaviour and language. The examples about making friends and encountering different religious backgrounds are relevant, as are the examples of bullying and stealing. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For instance, the claim that children from “unstable families” may pass on bad habits is broad and would benefit from a more careful explanation or qualification. The cultural-diversity point is also brief, and the response could discuss more directly why starting at three or four is advantageous or disadvantageous compared with waiting for primary school. Develop these ideas with clearer reasoning and specific examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The response is organised clearly: an introduction presents both sides, separate paragraphs explain advantages and disadvantages, and the conclusion summarises the main points. The progression from social skills to cultural awareness, then to behaviour and language, is easy to follow. Linking phrases such as “For example,” “Also,” “Where there are pros,” and “In summary” help signal the structure. To make the cohesion more flexible and less dependent on explicit transitions, connect some explanations directly to the preceding claims and vary how examples are introduced. For instance, the paragraph about religious diversity could explain how this prepares children to interact respectfully with others. A few references, such as “At this their stage,” are unclear, so ensure pronouns and referring phrases point unambiguously to the intended idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “social skills,” “interpersonal relationship skills,” “religious diversity,” and “emulating bad behaviors.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and some phrases show an attempt to be precise. However, several word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems reduce accuracy: “opportuned” is not the appropriate form here, “social akwardness” is misspelled, and “foul languages” is unnatural in this context. “Offsprings” is also an awkward choice when referring to children. Aim for natural collocations and check spelling carefully; simpler accurate wording is preferable to an ambitious phrase that does not fit. More precise vocabulary for early education and child development would also help you express the comparison more fully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a concessive opening with “Although” and a conditional example beginning “because.” Most sentences remain understandable, and errors do not generally prevent the reader from following your argument. Some grammatical inaccuracies persist, however. For example, “One of the disadvantage” needs a plural noun after “one of the,” while “which builds … and reduce” has a subject–verb agreement problem. The opening sentence also has an awkward structure around “from the ages 4-5years old,” and “At this their stage” is not grammatically clear. Review agreement, articles, and sentence construction, and proofread punctuation and spacing. Greater control of these forms would make your complex sentences more consistently accurate.
