Student answer (Band 5.5)

The trend of sending children in pre school nowadays become more popular in some parents because they think thier child will grow and learn more things in thier early age. Meanwhile, other have faith in dispatching thier kids to primary school as they become more mature and gain knowlegde, more easily than pre school. In this eassy, will discuss both advantages and disadvantages.

To begin with, more than half of the parents have positive reasons regarding pre school. Parents belive thier child will equire most of the skills like brainstroming, listen , learning basic words while they were in pre school. For Example, kids will gain knowledge about how to eat food, and listen stories moreover, learn basic sense which will help them in future in primary school. Futhermore, parent have some benifits as well, they can work accordingly instead of staying home to take care of their child.

On the second hand, sending childern in pre school have some drawbacks, many people argue that kids childhood become more complicated. They have spend most of thier life in pre school and schools only rather than consuming quality time with thier parents. For instance, child have fixed schedule in pre school and they aslo miss outdoor activities such as playing with thier grandparents.

In my opionion, childern who went to pre school have more sharp mind than the kids staying at home. They also feel different when they start thier primary school because of lack of confidence, unable to join other students beacause they do not have habbits of sitting in groups.

To conclude, there are more drawbacks than benifits for parents to not to send thier child to pree school.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both advantages and disadvantages, and your position is visible in the final paragraph: you believe preschool can help children become sharper and more confident when starting primary school. Relevant benefits include learning basic skills and allowing parents to work; the drawback of reduced time with parents is also identified. However, the discussion is only partly developed. The conclusion says there are “more drawbacks than benefits,” which conflicts with your positive view of preschool and is not supported by the points above. Some claims, such as children becoming more confident or having a “sharp mind,” need clearer explanation or a specific example. Make your overall judgement consistent and develop each main idea with a reason and an example or consequence.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph on benefits, one on drawbacks, a personal view, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “To begin with,” “On the second hand,” and “To conclude” helps readers follow the main sections. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes uneven, and some links are mechanical or unclear. For example, “For Example” introduces several points, while “moreover” joins ideas without clear punctuation or a precise relationship. The final paragraph also does not connect smoothly to the conclusion because its positive view conflicts with the conclusion’s claim that drawbacks outweigh benefits. Use fewer formulaic transitions and make the relationship between each supporting point explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “skills,” “basic words,” “fixed schedule,” “outdoor activities,” and “confidence.” This gives you enough language to communicate the main ideas. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make the writing less natural, such as “dispatching” children to school, “brainstroming,” and “sharp mind.” Repeated use of “child,” “parents,” and “pre school” also limits variety. Aim to learn accurate topic phrases and check spelling carefully; for instance, “send their children to preschool” is more natural than “dispatching their kids,” and “develop cognitive skills” is more precise than “grow and learn more things.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including a contrast in the opening and a reason introduced by “because.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence structure, verb forms, agreement, and articles occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to read. For example, “The trend … become more popular” lacks the correct verb form, while “In this essay, will discuss” has no clear subject. In “Parents believe their child will acquire … while they were in preschool,” the tense relationship is unclear. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement and tense consistency. More accurate simple sentences will help before you add complex clauses.
