Student answer (Band 6.0)
At present, education matters the most in the life of an individual. Mainly, the base of a children should be strong to learn something and it can be taught by their parents and teachers. Some parents believe that it is better for their children to start the school earlier rather than to wait until they become adults. This essay will examine both the merits and demerits in the folowing paragraphs, along with my personal opinion.
There are various benefits of sending children to school as they turn four or five. Firstly, they sharpen their mind by exploring their classmates, making friends and interacting with their teachers. Secondly, they gain some of the major qualities such as punctuality, teamwork, responsibilty and respect. Teachers are considered as the second parent of children. Every children build a better life with the equal support from their instructors and parents. For instance, a report conducted by a journalist of Australia mentioned that a large portion of young generation become successful in their life. This is possible due to the presence of motivation and correct guidance which they already get from their schools.
Moving towards the disadvantages of this phenomenon. The major one is that it may cause stress in a mind of a toddler. As some parents send them to schools in early age rather than spending time with them. Consequently, they feel a burden of studies, get less time to play and for curriculum activities. To demonstrate, most of the students are facing health-related problems such as brain tumour, asthma and depression. Additionally, a toddler can not get enough time to make their childhood memories due to education. However, some of the students have problems with their parents as they can not share feelings with them.
To conclude, it has both merits and demerits. I firmly believe that a toddler should be guided at house by their parents to learn basics. Therefore, they have enough time to spend with their family and their friends. It definitely help them to stay physically and mentally healthy.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both advantages and disadvantages and give a clear final preference for parental guidance at home. The benefits of socialising, learning teamwork and receiving guidance are relevant, as are concerns about stress and reduced playtime. However, several points are asserted rather than explained: the claim that early schooling leads to success is supported only by a vague reference to an Australian report, and the health problems listed are not convincingly linked to preschool. Your position also shifts somewhat: the essay discusses benefits, but the conclusion favours learning at home without explaining how this outweighs the benefits or when preschool might still be useful. Develop fewer points with clearer reasoning and more credible examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph on benefits, one on disadvantages, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” “Moving towards the disadvantages,” and “To conclude” helps readers follow the discussion. This clear structure is a strength. To make progression more natural and cohesive, avoid relying so heavily on formulaic transitions and connect each example directly to the point it supports. Some references are unclear, such as “This is possible” after the claim about young people’s success, and “they” in the disadvantages paragraph could refer to children or parents. A more explicit link between the discussion and your final position would also strengthen the overall flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “teamwork,” “responsibility,” “guidance,” “burden of studies,” and “childhood memories,” which helps communicate the main ideas. There are also noticeable problems with word choice, collocation, and spelling that sometimes make the meaning less precise. For example, “exploring their classmates” does not naturally express social interaction, and “curriculum activities” is not the usual phrase for play or extracurricular pursuits. “The base of a children” and “a large portion of young generation” are also awkward expressions. Aim for accurate, natural combinations of words and check spelling, including “following” and “responsibility.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “as,” “which,” and “due to,” and the overall meaning is generally understandable. However, errors in agreement, articles, and sentence construction recur. Examples include “a children,” “Every children build,” and “It definitely help”; these should use consistent singular or plural forms and matching verbs. In “As some parents send them to schools in early age rather than spending time with them,” the opening clause is incomplete, while “it may cause stress in a mind of a toddler” has an unclear article pattern. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and articles, and revise sentence fragments so each sentence expresses a complete thought.
