Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays some parents prefer to send thier children to preschool at the age of three or four ,while others believe that children should start their education when they arw old enough to attend primary school.Although early education has several benefits , it also has some drawbacks .before giving my opinion, both the points will be discussed further. For example ,children may feel overwhelmed by homework and classroom activities instead of enjoying thier childhood

On the one hand, sending children early to primary school has several benefits. To begin with ,they develop skill of communication and learn to socialize with other students and teachers . They understand to share things and work in a group . Another significant benefit is that they gain confidence and become independent for example they start to eat on their own , perform simple tasks by themselves . As a result , they are more prepared for primary school.

On the other hand, some drawbacks for early preschool education can develop children have speration anxiety from there parents and develop fear of school because they have to spend several hours away for their parents .Moreover , some preschool put academic pressure on the children to perfomance in study and subjects that are not relevant which can create an unneccesary stress and can affect their emotional development.

In conclusion, sending children to preschool at an early age has both positive and negative aspects. Although it helps them develop social skills, confidence and independence, it may also cause separation anxiety and unnecessary pressure. In my opinion, preschool is beneficial as long as children are provided with a comfortable and enjoyable learning environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both sides of the question and give a clear final view: preschool is beneficial when the environment is comfortable and enjoyable. Relevant advantages include socialising, sharing, confidence and independence, while the disadvantages include separation anxiety and academic pressure. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For instance, the claim that children become more independent through eating and completing simple tasks would be stronger with a specific example or explanation of how preschool supports this. The opening also introduces homework and classroom activities as a concern, but this idea is not developed in the disadvantages paragraph. Develop each main point more evenly and connect examples directly to the effects on children.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion that summarises the discussion. Signposting such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” helps readers follow the main stages. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The sentence beginning “before giving my opinion” is followed by an example about feeling overwhelmed, which interrupts the introduction and is not clearly linked to the later discussion. Within paragraphs, ideas sometimes run together, particularly in the disadvantages section. Use clearer topic sentences and arrange each paragraph so that a point is followed by its explanation or example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use an adequate range of topic-related vocabulary, including “socialize,” “confidence,” “independent,” “separation anxiety,” and “emotional development.” These choices make the main ideas understandable, and some phrases show an attempt to be precise. However, spelling errors and awkward word combinations reduce accuracy, as in “speration anxiety,” “perform in study,” and “unnecessary stress.” There is also repetition of general terms such as “benefits,” “drawbacks,” and “children.” Aim to use more natural collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, describe children as “under academic pressure” rather than saying they are pressured “to performance in study.” More precise vocabulary would make the discussion clearer and more fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including the concession in “Although early education has several benefits, it also has some drawbacks” and the conditional structure in your conclusion. Meaning is generally clear, but some grammatical errors and punctuation problems remain. For example, “they develop skill of communication” needs an article and a plural form, while “they understand to share things” uses an incorrect verb pattern. The sentence about separation anxiety is also difficult to follow because its clauses are not clearly structured. Review articles, verb patterns, and sentence boundaries, and use commas consistently after introductory phrases. Greater control of these patterns would make your ideas easier to read.
