Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify the topic and begin to discuss an advantage: preschool may help children develop socially and become more comfortable with school. You also mention a possible disadvantage of starting primary school without parents. However, the response addresses the task only partially: it does not explain the disadvantages of preschool itself, and the ideas are brief and unsupported by a relevant example. The introduction promises to discuss both sides, but the essay does not fulfil that promise or give a clear concluding view. The response is also 115 words below the required minimum, leaving too little space to develop the discussion. To improve, cover advantages and disadvantages of early preschool, explain each point, and add a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an introductory paragraph is followed by a paragraph beginning “To begin with advantages,” and linking expressions such as “Although” signal a contrast. This gives the reader some sense of the intended direction. However, the discussion stops before a clear progression is established: there is no developed paragraph on disadvantages and no conclusion. Some connections are awkward or unclear, particularly the shift from preschool’s benefits to children going straight to primary school. The sentence beginning “Although” also combines contrasting points without making their relationship easy to follow. Use separate paragraphs for the two sides, connect each reason to its explanation, and finish with a brief summary.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses a small set of relevant words and phrases, including “preschool,” “primary school,” “develop,” and “mindset,” so the general topic is understandable. There are also attempts to express ideas beyond very basic statements, such as children finding it difficult to “play and study with other kids.” However, the range is limited and several spelling or word-choice errors make the writing less clear, including “gaurdians,” “beleieve,” “thiking,” and “aaceptable.” Some phrasing is also unnatural, such as “in three or four year age” and “going outside from house.” Build a more accurate topic vocabulary and check spelling and collocations; for example, use “at the age of three or four” and “leave the home environment.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast introduced by “Although” and a reason introduced by “because.” This shows some willingness to vary sentence structure. However, the range remains limited, and errors in sentence boundaries, agreement, articles, and plurals occur often enough to make parts difficult to read. For example, “while, other guardians wait” is not correctly joined to the preceding sentence, and “three or four year old” needs a plural form when describing children generally. The fragment “because, playing with other kids…” should be connected to the previous sentence, while “a good options” has an article–plural mismatch. Practise complete sentences, accurate punctuation, and consistent plural forms.
