Student answer (Band 6.0)
A lot of produced food and drinks have high levels of sugar, which causes too many health issues. Therefore sugary goods should be charged at a high price in order to encourage people to buy less sugar. I mostly agree with the statement that people should consume less sugar because of the health complications.
There are many benefits of why sugar products should be more expensive. One possible benefit is that high price of sugar induces consumers to purchase less amount of sugar. According to the law of demand, when price of a product goes up, the quantity demanded of that product goes down, other things remaining the same, and vice-versa. So when the price of sugar will rise, people will find sugary products as costly and will lower the consumption of sugar. For example, when the price of tea increases, people reduce the consumption of tea and will switch to an alternative ones, like coffee. Similary, when the food price rises, buyers move to other relatively cheaper goods. This behavior is termed as a rational behavior.
In addition, less consumption of sugar will have significant positive health benefits. Those who eat food and drink that contain high levels of sugar suffer from serious health problems, such as diabetes, kidney problem, fat, high level of colsterol etc. As a result the doctor suggests them to avoid sugary products. When they lower the consumption of sugar, there are no chance of getting extra sugar in our body, which helps us to recover from those problems. Therefore, low consumption of sugar helps us to be healthy as well as fit. For example, when people are diagnosed with diabetes problem, they are not allowed to eat sugar related products because sugar will excerbate the problem.
However, in real life it is not possible to avoid sugar because almost every products are made of sugar. But we should not eat sugar too much because of the serious health issues. That's why sugary, products should be made more expensive.
In conclusion, although it is difficult to ignore sugar related products in our everyday life, we can put restrictions on sugar consumption by making it more expensive because of the positive benefits it provides.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you mostly agree that higher prices can reduce sugar consumption, and you give relevant reasons about demand and health. The explanation of how price may affect purchasing is supported with examples, while the health paragraph names possible consequences and refers to advice given to people with diabetes. However, some points are not fully developed or precise. The tea-and-coffee comparison illustrates substitution generally, but does not directly show how a price increase on sugary products would change consumption. The claim that higher prices help people recover from health problems also needs qualification: reducing sugar may support health, but it does not itself cure conditions. Explain who should pay more, and how the policy could affect people with limited incomes, to develop your response more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a coherent overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present economic and health reasons, and the conclusion returns to your position. Connectors such as “In addition,” “However,” and “In conclusion” make the main stages easy to follow. At times, though, cohesion is mechanical or the links between examples and claims are not fully clear. The tea-price example shifts away from sugary products, and “This behavior is termed as a rational behavior” does not clearly advance the argument. The final paragraph introduces the idea that sugar is difficult to avoid, but this qualification is not explored before the conclusion. Use clearer references and transitions to show how each example supports the central argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “law of demand,” “quantity demanded,” “consumption,” and “health complications.” These terms help communicate your economic and health arguments, and the meaning is generally clear. There are, however, some inaccurate word choices, collocations, and spelling errors. “Produced food” is less natural than “manufactured food,” while “fat” does not precisely name a health condition; “obesity” would be clearer. Other examples include “kidney problem,” “colsterol,” “excerbate,” and “sugar related products.” Aim for precise topic vocabulary and check spelling and word forms. Avoid repeating “sugar” where alternatives such as “sugary products” or “added sugar” fit the meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional and subordinate clauses, as in “when price of a product goes up” and “although it is difficult to ignore sugar related products.” Most sentences remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur. Examples include “the high price of sugar induces consumers to purchase less amount,” “when the price of sugar will rise,” and “there are no chance,” which show problems with articles, comparative forms, tense, and agreement. There are also awkward sentence patterns such as “There are many benefits of why sugar products should be more expensive.” Review article use, singular and plural agreement, and verb forms in time clauses. More consistently accurate complex sentences would make your reasoning easier to follow.
