Student answer (Band 7.0)
Many food and drink items produced contain large amount of sugar in them, which is hazardous to health containing many health problems. Products containing large levels of sugar should have increased price ranges to discourage people to consume them more. This concern is particularly significant as it is leading to many problems including health as well as mental. In this essay, i completely agree to the approach that those products should made more expensive to reduce their usage as government should also pay attention toward other approaches to mitigate their usage.
Sugary products should be made expensive so they become out of reach for many individuals. Many people are addicted to these kind of products. If they will be expensive , people can not be able to afford such items. Those items are hazardous to health, as obesity has become a leading problem. More unhealthy people will lead to more unemployed people , resulting in negative consequences for both individuals and society. Therefore , it is evident to implement effective measures to mitigate negative impacts of such products.
There should be implementation of other measures as well . One significant approach is lowering the cost of healthy products, so people mostly diverge toward buying healthy products, as it will be better for their health, and will have positive impacts on individuals as well as society as a whole. Additionally, government should spread awareness regarding negative impacts of sugary products and positive impacts of healthy products and consequences of consuming those products in both short-term as well as long-term. Thus, implementing comprehensive strategies will reduce the negative impacts .
In conclusion, i strongly agree with the approach of making sugary products more expensive as an effective measure but instead of focusing only one measure , there should be implementation of other such measures as well.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position in the introduction and maintaining it throughout. The ideas are relevant, such as the economic impact of price hikes and the need for complementary strategies like subsidizing healthy food. However, the development is somewhat repetitive; for instance, the link between obesity and unemployment is asserted without sufficient explanation or logical depth. While the position is clear, the supporting arguments could be more nuanced to reach a higher band. Overall, the response is well-focused on the task requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Additionally', 'Therefore', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive, and the use of referencing is occasionally imprecise. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the main arguments from the conclusion. The progression of ideas is generally clear, though the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to avoid a somewhat formulaic structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'mitigate', 'hazardous', and 'comprehensive strategies'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'diverge toward buying' or 'price ranges' instead of 'price points' or 'taxes'. While the meaning is always clear, the lack of more sophisticated or precise collocations prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Spelling is generally accurate throughout the text.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'products should made more expensive' (missing 'be') and 'people can not be able to' (redundant modal usage). Punctuation is generally functional, though there are some inconsistent spaces before commas. While the errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. The student demonstrates an ability to construct complex sentences, but control over these structures needs to be more consistent to ensure accuracy.
