Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

You have addressed all parts of the prompt by providing a clear position and supporting it with relevant arguments. You acknowledge the complexity of the issue by suggesting alternatives to taxation, such as government regulation and public awareness campaigns. However, some ideas are slightly under-developed; for instance, the suggestion of 'health related campaigns' could be strengthened with a specific example of how they function. Your position is consistent throughout, and the response is well-focused on the topic of sugar consumption and policy intervention.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. You use cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'First and foremost', and 'In addition to' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing and flow, such as the abrupt inclusion of 'An apple a day k' which disrupts the coherence of the third paragraph. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear, and the paragraphing is appropriate for the task.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'sedentary lifestyle', 'stringent norms', and 'habitual'. There are some instances of awkward word choice or minor errors, such as 'package food' instead of 'packaged food' and 'sugar containing products' instead of 'sugar-laden products'. While you attempt to use more sophisticated vocabulary, some collocations are slightly unnatural. Nevertheless, the meaning is always clear, and the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your arguments effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('sugary items should be sale', 'governments should made') and article usage. Some sentences are slightly fragmented or contain minor punctuation issues. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic verb forms and pluralization will help improve your accuracy.
