Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is true that a number of health problems arise because of sugary foods and drinks. The idea of making sugary products more expensive to avoid making is less popular or to prevent such health related issues feels not working in my perspective.I completly disagree with this idea.

first of all,i think that the price does not matter when people are indulge into the habbits of eating their favourite food or drinks.People eat or drink the products that gives them good taste no matter how much healthy or unhealthy it is.Nowadays people like soft drinks coke, pepsi, gatorade, jarritos, donuts, ice caps and such things ,all those drinking or food items are high in sugars.Everybody knows about the sugary impact of these items but people like to consume all these peoducts insted of healthy ones.

Secondly, when the price is high the food item looks more tastier.People want to taste it no matter how much costly the item is.The expensive item becomes the trend specially in youth. For example,i am working for a restaurent where we sell a number of sugary drinks ,cookies or churo fries all these items are high in sugar but people like all this sugary stuff insted of our healthy salad bowls or wraps which are gluten free or sugar free and cheper than those things in comparasion of good diet.

At the end, health is the personel choice of individuals.people would love to eat or drink what they want no matter what the price is or what the food item contains unless or until they are aware about the healthy eating habbits.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. You have provided reasons for your disagreement, such as the idea that price does not deter habitual consumption and that expensive items can become status symbols. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat simplistic. The argument regarding 'expensive items becoming a trend' is interesting but lacks sufficient depth or a more sophisticated explanation. To reach a higher band, ensure that your supporting arguments are more thoroughly explored and that your examples are more clearly linked to the central thesis. The conclusion is brief but effectively restates your position.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use basic cohesive devices like 'first of all', 'secondly', and 'at the end' to signal transitions. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of cohesive devices is limited. There are instances where the logical progression could be smoother; for example, the transition between the idea of price and the personal experience in the restaurant could be better connected. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on common words and phrases, such as 'good taste', 'sugary impact', and 'personel choice'. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'completly', 'peoducts', 'insted', 'cheper', and 'personel'. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they do affect the overall quality of the writing. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and pay closer attention to spelling and word formation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include missing articles (e.g., 'in my perspective'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'people are indulge into'), and punctuation errors, such as missing spaces after commas and periods. The sentence construction is often clunky, which occasionally makes the meaning less clear. To achieve a higher score, you need to demonstrate better control over complex sentence structures and reduce the frequency of basic grammatical slips. Proofreading your work for subject-verb agreement and punctuation would be a beneficial practice.
