Student answer (Band 5.5)

In today's area the foods and drink products contain high amount of sugar, which can welcome numerous health problems. In response to these problem some argue to make sugary products should made more expensive which decreased the sales of products. I partially agree which these solution as it is not a practical solution for these.

One of the reason is the high prices of sugar products can encourage individuals to consumed it less. The people whose daily habit of consuming drinks may gets less and due to higher prices they may switch to healthier juices which led to their better health. Moreover, due to higher prices those products sales dropped and those company can also switch to make health drinks as per there customers needed.

However, i do not believe the increasing in prices of sugary products can encourage people as there are people with good income can continue there drinking habits. Additionally if person has a regular habit of eating and drinking sugary products they will still buy those products if it is expensive. Therefore, i supports that government should also play some role they should add on more taxes on that drinks as well in schools , society the awareness campaigns should held to make people aware with these products. Additionally younger students should aware of the disease like diabetes which can make them understand that sugary products are not good for there health.

In conclusion, increasing prices of products can encourage some peoples but providing a awareness can led to better solution of these problem. A good balance of solution can led to a long term solution.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear, partially agreeable position. You discuss both the potential benefits of a sugar tax and the limitations, such as the fact that wealthy individuals or those with strong habits may not change their behavior. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument regarding companies switching to healthier drinks is mentioned but not fully explored. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting point is expanded with more depth and specific examples. While the position is clear throughout, the overall development of arguments remains somewhat basic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'However', and 'Additionally' to link ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly repetitive. Furthermore, there are instances where the flow between sentences is slightly disjointed due to grammatical errors, which occasionally makes the progression of ideas feel less smooth. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that referencing (e.g., 'these problems', 'those products') is always clear and precise.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'sugary products', 'awareness campaigns', and 'diabetes'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'In today's area' (likely meant 'era'), 'welcome numerous health problems', and 'those company can also switch to make health drinks'. These errors indicate a limited range of vocabulary and some difficulty with collocation. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and proofreading for word-form errors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there is a high frequency of grammatical errors. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('those company can', 'people... may gets'), incorrect verb forms ('encourage individuals to consumed'), and article usage. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader and indicate a lack of control over complex structures. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and consistent verb tense usage, before attempting more complex grammatical forms.
